There is something undeniably appealing about a crossover. Most people are always wondering what would happen if this character met this character, or if the heroes from this particular universe were able to interact with the heroes in a completely different universe. That appeal extends to gaming, especially fighting games, as seen in fan favorites like Marvel vs. Capcom or SNK vs. Capcom. SNK, of the aforementioned Marvel vs. SNK, has a large catalog of fighters, with... Read more

Shodown. Two characters from the 3D Samurai Shodown games are here, and while Shiki was in SvC Chaos, this is the first time outside of the Neo Geo Pocket Color games that we see a 2D rendition of Asura. Hanzo, Fuuma, and Mudman show up from the forgotten ADK semi-classic World Heroes (which is also being released in a compilation in the near future), and Mr. Big, Mr. Karate (a variation of Ryo) and Lee Pai Long fill out the Art of Fighting roster. There are also a... Read more

And that’s it, really. There’s not too much to the game besides the few modes, and though the character selection screen is certainly filled with choices, it’ll still be quite obvious that you’re playing in the same modes over and over again. Still, fighting-game aficionados can probably look beyond this, as the fighting mechanics themselves are still pretty good and that’s really the most important part of a fighting title. Heck, I know that much, even if I... Read more

Meet Goodman. Nobody really cares about him. In a world where Geese Howard and Rugal Bernstein – you know, real fighting game bosses – dominate the playing field, this fellow comes up short. He looks like a cheap Igniz knockoff, wields a fiery whip, and controls a purple ball of flame shaped like a baboon’s head. Ooh, fearsome. His design practically screams, “ I’m a throwaway villain! Beware my generic scheming! ” If he weren’t poised to take control of... Read more

NeoGeo Battle Coliseum looks old and sounds old and plays in 2D - all things that will deter most modern-day gamers, but old-school fans of NeoGeo fighters and newbies interested in discovering where 3D fighters originated will not be disappointed. It may be daunting to step off the main road and walk into lost, unfamiliar, and dangerous territory. It may not feel like the smartest, safest thing to do. But in the end, it always leads to the experiences that are worth... Read more
