Need for Speed: Most Wanted PS2 Review
31 May 2010
Excerpt: Whilst we have always held the Need for Speed: Underground games in high regard, we have frequently thought that there was something missing. When going back to play earlier Need for Speed titles (namely the Hot Pursuit games) it’s easy to see what the Underground series so badly lacked, and that’s the people who want you off the road and locked up in a cell!
Excerpt: The minute you fire up Need for Speed: Most Wanted , you are slammed with amazingly bad cutscenes that combine the real actors and in-game models – it is almost like Sega CD classics like Night Trap and Sewer Shark have been reborn… So perhaps that statement is a bit misleading. The cutscenes themselves look incredible and definitely give the game a look all its own.
Conclusion: THE VERDICT: The game's place in the charts over Christmas has already shown that its Most Wanted subtitle is more than accurate, and it is at least not entirely undeserving of this attention (though it is perhaps of this much attention). Though whilst it may be a big improvement of the meh-ness of NFS: Underground 2, it is so only to the extent of meh+1, particularly when the most standout change is that of swapping last year's covergirl to a slightly less attractive...
Excerpt: “Need For Speed: Most Wanted” hasn’t accelerated to the car-crushing level of arcade action that the “Burnout” games have, but it does have more than enough juice to continue its franchise and keep gamers’ hands on the wheel
Excerpt: Need for Speed: Most Wanted focuses on running from the law in your quest to top the infamous "Blacklist", a list of 15 notorious street racers wanted by the cops. Excerpt: As we enter the month of December it is nearly time for the festivities to commence. Christmas will soon be with us. Almost as regular as Christmas these days is the Need For Speed series. Having topped the Christmas charts for the past two years with their Need For Speed Underground series, EA return this year, looking to repeat previous success with the newest instalment in the Need For Speed series – Most Wanted .
