NCAA GameBreaker 2003

The Armchair Empire
28 October 2002
  • Conclusion: Let’s start with the offense. Starting all regular downs from the huddle, you choose from a variety of formations. The selection screen shows 3 different formations at one time – the center one is blown up and the other two are smaller and below. This represents a problem in that it is hard to see the formation that is not blown up – so I recommend memorizing all of the formations so that you can choose by the name instead of the picture.

Operation Sports

  • Excerpt: Gamebreaker first strikes you as a surprisingly fun game. However, the more time you spend with it the more the flaws stand out and you end up coming away unsatisfied. The action is fast and the atmosphere and excitement of college football is represented well, but finding a level with the appropriate challenge is the major weakness with Gamebreaker.

  • Excerpt: Ahh, Fall. While I prefer the heat and the glare of the summer sun, the one thing that I love about fall is the beginning of football season. The fevered anticipation that grips the country as every Saturday and Sunday, families and friends gather around TVs cheering on their favorite team to victory. Personally, I happen to have a special place in my heart for college ball.

NCAA GameBreaker 2003

Playstation Illustrated
27 September 2002
  • Excerpt: My biggest concern when I started playing NCAA GameBreaker 2003 was how it would compare to NCAA Football 2003 by EA Sports . Unfortunately, the game pales in comparison. GameBreaker 2003 's graphics are decent, but they are not able to compete with other titles out right now. The players appear squarish and don't have a very natural look to them. The animation for the game is very jumpy and appears to be at a really low frame rate.

  • Excerpt: I want to be brutally honest for a moment. 989 Sports has really stunk it up the past couple of years. They have failed to produce high quality titles. However, after a year off from most new sports releases, new additions to their development team, and a new outlook, NCAA GameBreaker 2003 arrives for the PlayStation 2.
