Excerpt: Some times I just wish 989 Sports would take a year off and concentrate more time on their sports titles. After playing numerous games by the development company, I've come to the habit of going into the experience with heavy reserve. After playing NCAA Final Four 2003, every previous feeling I had was strongly confirmed. The gameplay is sloppy; the graphics are sub-par; and the control scheme is dire.
Excerpt: Much like in the rest of 989 Sports' lineup, the main attraction in NCAA Final Four 2003 is the diversity of the gameplay modes that it offers. Instead of featuring just the basic season, tournament, and dynasty options found in other games, NCAA Final Four essentially has two different dynasty modes, an in-depth season mode that lets you have tremendous influence on the team you're coaching, a custom tournament option, and arcade and practice options.
Excerpt: 989 Studios. Makers of such fine games as the Gameday and MLB for the Playstation and such horrible games as the Gameday series and the Shootout series for the PS2. They are also the developers for the Final Four series. The Final Four series has had an interesting life. Every year, I play this game for two reasons. Excerpt: It's basketball season again, not only on the court, but also on the PS2, with 989 Sports ' latest installment of their basketball series NCAA Final Four 2003 . There've been a few unique changes to the game we remember last year, but the developers have had quite a hit and miss history so the real question is: How does this one add up? Visually, NCAA Final Four 2003 isn't among the most appealing...
Conclusion: Huh? A 989 Sports game that is not a complete flop? Although the gameplay leaves much for my appetite, the rest of the game is solid. If the gameplay can be improved A LOT for next year, we might be looking at the best college basketball game on the market. Although I have yet to play NCAA Basketball 2k3 or March Madness, at least with the gameplay, Final Four is one year away from winning the national championship.
