NBA Street Vol. 2

The Armchair Empire
6 July 2003
  • Conclusion: old school players.  This is the kind of basketball culture that fans should love.  Come to think of it, Vol. 2 is the only sports game to blend culture with basketball. The game includes a school mode, which teaches you the basic skills such as dribbling, passing, shooting and trick moves. This is a necessary track to take if you want to kick your friends to the curb with some truly cool moves.  And you will play with friends as Vol. 2 supports 4 simultaneous players.

  • Excerpt: Unlike most basketball titles, this is not so much a sports simulation as it is an interactive fantasy with a chain-link net. Gameplay is all about razzle-dazzle and improbably executed moves that the Harlem Globetrotters would be hard pressed to match.

NBA Street Vol. 2

Operation Sports
17 June 2003
  • Excerpt: Two years ago, EA Big stepped on the basketball game scene with NBA Street. This game, while not at all realistic, was one of the most enjoyable games out for the PS2. The type of game that you could play with friends for hours. The only problem I had with the original NBA Street was the lack of longevity in the single player game. Once you finished beating all of the NBA teams in the City Circuit mode, there wasn’t much left to do.

NBA Street Vol. 2

Playstation Illustrated

  • Excerpt: Hoop it up with the latest edition of NBA Street . NBA Street Volume 2 looks even better than the first rendition, and includes even more basketball stars from today and yesteryear, with more places to play above the rim. It's obvious EA went for more of an arcade-like feel for the player models, and I think it worked out well. Fittingly, the animations are just as outrageous as the characters. Old school ballers like Dr.

  • Excerpt: NBA Street was considered by many to be the spiritual successor to NBA Jam, which really put over-the-top, arcade-style basketball on the map. Like NBA Jam, NBA Street was all about spectacular dunks, non-stop action, and having the draw of being able to just pick the game up and play it without having to know the ins and outs of NBA basketball.

  • Excerpt: They’re playing basketball. We love that basketball. Basketball is a sport that has always been close to my heart. I grew up in the East Midlands in a footballing town and went to a very sporty secondary school. It was so sporty, as it goes, that they actually had basketball nets in the playground, so I basically shot hoops with my basketball mad mates every lunchtime for five years and left the footballing kids to it.

  • Excerpt: It's not everyday that I'm excited to open up a new sports game, especially during the month of april. But all that changed when I opened up my brand-spanking new copy of NBA Street vol.2. I will tell you this right now, after playing this game for countless hours by myself and with friends, this game is by far the best game of it's type (sorry Street Hoops ).

Futuregamez.net

  • Summary: NBA Street Vol. 2 is a fantastic arcade basketball game, and easily the best on the PS2 to date. Addictive gameplay and a plethora of unlockables make this game definitely worth buying for single player, and the multiplayer game modes are reason enough to run out and invest in a multitap.
