Summary: I actually hated this game when I first bought it due to the revised game play. I absolutely HATED...I repeat HATED the hop step, and having a seperate shot and dunk/layup button. Months later near the release of Live 05, I started playing Live 04 and became accustomed to the style of play.
Summary: This game would have been so much better if EA had only fixed all the ridiculous problems of 2003 and left it at that, because that was still the most fun basketball game I've ever played. Instead, they revamped the franchise. The player models all look short, fat, and big-headed.
Summary: Hi, I've played basketball over the years but the only NBA Live games I've played was NBA Live '95 on the PC and NBA Live 98 in the Nintendo 64 (my friends and I wore that one out). I got NBA Live 2002 for the PS2 for a brief time as well and played it but shelved it in favor of NBA 2k2.
Summary: First of all, I am a HUGE basketball fan but I'm an even BIGGER fan of basketball video games. I've played dozens of b-ball titles, many of which most people have never heard of (ever hear of Fast Break by a company named Accolade or GBA Sports' 2-on-2 Basketball? I didn't think so).
Summary: If you like real basketball instead of arcade basketball, you should get this game. I love this gameplay, but it could be better. The new hop step button is great, but if you step up to take a charge, the defender slides backwards.
Summary: Live 2004 is addictive, fun, realistic, and challenging. The graphics get an 8 on a scale of 1 to 10. some features could be added or twirked. Like rebounding. it seems to take a while for your controlled team, offense or defense to automatically rebound, and that sometimes can cost you the game.
Play it for a while and you will learn to apreciate it a lot

Summary: I hope that EA reads these reviews and hears from those who actually play the games. This is one of the better basketball games I have played. When I first turned it on and started to play I was a little disappointed because the player models had changed.
Summary: Against my better judgment, I went out and purchased NBA Live 2004 after swearing off the franchise after last year's debacle. Though I loved the hyped Freestyle Control, I found 2003 to be incredibly frustrating for it's emphasis on arcade-like game play that allowed the opponent to score at will.
Summary: I've had and played NBA Live 2004 since 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday Oct. 14, 2003. There are some very good qualities and some bad. Let's start with the good first. The pro-hop is easily the best in-game move a basketball game has implemented so far.
