For it's time it was great

Web-shopper, Amazon
6 August 2009
  • Summary: For it's time, this game was good, but it doesn't have the dunk contest and extra features that the newer games have. The actual gameplay is perfect (I hate how the buttons are on the newer games).

What can I say...umm...no?

Christopher Coles, Amazon
21 September 2002
  • Summary: It's like this...you run, you dunk, you win. The other team's IQ is that of a small rodent. This game is SO easy. They give you the ball! Are you stupid? No? Then steer clear of this game.

Not Challeneging Enough

Christopher Coles, Amazon
17 August 2002
  • Summary: Look, I could write a nice, long review on what I don't like about this game, but I just think I'll get right to the point. The game is too simple. First time I played the game, I set it to the highest level, just to see what it was like...and guess what? I beat it. And for those of you out there, thinking I'm some great, hardcore gamer, I'll have to tell you I'm not. I play my Playstation 2 only around an hour a weak and I'm not that great.

Decent but need graphics and gameplay of March Madness

Kevin Renard, Amazon
12 April 2002
  • Summary: I've been a fan of Live for years but haven't really been wowed by the upgrades since the jump from '98 to '99. First off, in 2002 it's way to easy to score with a to big man going to the basket. In any game I play against my friends for instance Kings vs. Blazers, Webber will have 40 points and Wallace will have 42. Dunks are basically automatic so it kinda takes the fun out of it. For the most part defense is also pretty nonexistent.

Great potential but a little dull

Kevin Renard, Amazon
5 April 2002
  • Summary: Easy playability and decent graphics make this game excellent fun for the first couple of minutes. The players` likenesses are amazing and their body movements are highly realistic. Unfortunately it`s way too slow and bears little resemblance to an actual game of basketball. The centers dominate the play too much. Players like Shaq pick up the MVP award every game because they are totally dominant offensively and defensively.

EA Sports Does It Again!

Roland Dark, Amazon
17 March 2002
  • Summary: Have they ever done it again! I am an EA Sports devotee and expect each years installment of their superlative "Live" series to be a ticket to my personal NBA season. They rarely disappoint, and "NBA Live 2002" for the P2 is no exception. Game still has all the great stuff of previous "Lives", only better: updated rosters and schedules for the 2001-02 season (including Michael Jordan with the Wizards!

Good, but not as good as 2K2

ffootballguru27, Amazon
9 March 2002
  • Summary: NBA Live 2002 for the PS2 is an amazing game, but it falls short of Sega's NBA 2K2. NBA Live 2002 is a very fun, but challenging game. The good: 1) The graphics on this game waste NBA 2K2's 2) The gameplay is amazing and the dunks are so realistic, Vince Carter dunks he does the under-the-leg jam 3) Offense is very easy to get used to 4) Very up-to-date rosters with current jersey's, logos, and shoe styles 5) Create-a-team and Create-a-player modes 6) Franchise mode...

NBA Live 2002

wutizawut "what?", Amazon
24 February 2002
  • Summary: This game is the best basketball game to come out this year. It is true to the real NBA games in every way, from realistic rules to making sure that trades are fair. If you liked the other NBA live games, you'll love this one. In NBA Live 2002, you are able to give created players new features, such as headbands, wristbands, and real shoes such as Allen Iverson's Answer IV and Answer V.
