Summary: EA sports are going in reverse. The 99 version on playstation one was better. The graphics on this one haven't improved for 5 years, the camera angles aren't helpful and gameplay is unrealistic. I still own the playstation version from years ago and would rather play that. At least until a worthy substitute comes along. The only positive of this one is the career mode.
Summary: First of all, I must say that I have been an avid collector of the NBA live games. I have collected every year from 1996-2007. There have been a lot of great additions and there have been some weak ones (00,02,03). Here are some pro's and con's to 2006. Pros: 1. Free-style superstar is an amazing new feature! Allows the superstars to take over the game. 2. There are a lot of new plays both on defensive and offense. Allows for great variety. 3. Graphics are great!
Summary: Pretty much theres nothing good you can say about this game. Everything that people have been posting has been true and more. The gameplay is awful, I guarantee you could play a half and point out at least 15 major problems. Also, if you're fantasy drafting a team why can't you get out before you have to watch the entire draft, hire a coaching staff, and go through training camp?
Summary: The problems associated ww/ NBA Live 06 are endless and it's just as bad as Live 02, 04, and 05. What happened to the gameplay of the Live series. The Last fun NBA Live game they released in my opinion, was live 03, which introduced the freestyle control and had Jason Kidd on the cover. Live 03 had the balance necessary to keep hardcore enthusists and casual fans entertained with an up-tempo....realistic pace of an NBA game. As for 06 where do I begin to complain. 1.
Summary: I have only been playing NBA Live since 2003 but I must admit that 2003 & 2004 are the best looking games they have made. Superior graphics, moves, complaining to the refs and more made these games very entertaining. In 2004 your created players had faces that moved on and off the court, award ceremonies, stat screens and now for 2006 just this sour mugshot killer looking face appears representing your player.
Summary: just read through the reviews and you will learn all you need to about this game (aside from every 6th or 7th person who says its the best game ever made). defensive abilities are very limited. you can pretty much score at will from 15 feet or closer to the basket. mediocre players on other teams will torch you for 40 plus points. game play absolutely sucks, the set up of the dynasty mode sucks. the music and the announcers suck. don't buy this game.
Summary: This game is very average. I have gotten every EA Sports game for the past 5 years. I have always been happy except for the NBA series which i felt has been the same year after year. So instead of shelling out 40 bucks this year to buy the game i rented it hoping for something good. It was average exactly like the 05 version. I decided not to buy it. I read all the reviews and NBA 2k6 seemed like it was great game.
Summary: this game is way too easy offensivly. Wat happened to that defense nba live 2005 had last year. Good defense makes the game more exciting, not crazy free flowing offense especially in a game of two top defensive teams.
Summary: Each year EA gets closer and closer to getting NBA live right, but they always fix something and turn around and break something else. LAst year (2005), The defense was crazy. I had guys getting 10 blocked shots a game. It was so easy to steal an inbound or in-air pass that it was ridiculous. Now it is just the opposite. It is entirely too easy to score. I honestly if I want, can come down the court and score every time if I want to.
Summary: This game is all-around bad and I have bought NBA Live every year since 1995. First of all, the graphics still leave something to desire. The sound is horrible from the soundtrack to the "announcers." They constantly say stupid things like "x player has entered the game for the first time" even though he was in earlier. The font is way too small; sometimes I have to hit pause to see the score and still can't tell what it is.
