Summary: I'm still playing it now and what is it 2009? It's game play is better than 07, 08, and definitely 09. I see a lot of people complaining about the a i and the dumb shots they make. While this is true, there is ways you can adjust to make it more competitive on superstar mode. For one, you can do pretty much the same thing the computer can do. In fact when you get it in the post and you pump fake, the computer never bites but it freezes them.
Summary: This was my first basketball game for my PS2. I've always stuck to football, baseball, etc. I don't like basketball much so I figured I wouldn't enjoy playing it on a PS2 either. Boy was I wrong! This game is fast paced, easy to learn, and yet difficult enough to keep you interested. The graphics are not bad like the previous reviews say. They're not the best - but they aren't bad either. I highly recommed this game.
Summary: EA sports are going in reverse. The 99 version on playstation one was better. The graphics on this one haven't improved for 5 years, the camera angles aren't helpful and gameplay is unrealistic. I still own the playstation version from years ago and would rather play that. At least until a worthy substitute comes along. The only positive of this one is the career mode.
Summary: First of all, I must say that I have been an avid collector of the NBA live games. I have collected every year from 1996-2007. There have been a lot of great additions and there have been some weak ones (00,02,03). Here are some pro's and con's to 2006. Pros: 1. Free-style superstar is an amazing new feature! Allows the superstars to take over the game. 2. There are a lot of new plays both on defensive and offense. Allows for great variety. 3. Graphics are great!
Summary: Ever since I picked up my first NBA series games which was NBA 2K3 I have never played an NBA Live game since. NBA Live characters just don't seem to have the realistics as NBA 2K6 does. Here are my comparisons of NBA 2K6 to NBA Live 2006 Reading other reviews on this game it looks like NBA 2K6 added all the features that Live was missing.
Summary: I like this game a lot. Awesome sound effects, awesome graphics, and the commentators do well. However, the referees can be very unfair. According to them, attempted blocking means an offensive foul, and reaching through a crowd of players to get to the hoop means a defensive foul. Also, the computer is impossible to beat, especially when they continuously steal the ball and surround the rim.
