  • Excerpt: I think it would be best for me to point out that I always preferred the 2k series of EA’s NBA Live offerings ‘ aside from when NBA Live was all there was, of course. Indeed I do remember when it was all fields around here, Micheal Jordan really could fly and games like Bulls vs Blazers and Arch Rivals was the best opposition for Live that anyone could muster.

NBA 2K3

  • Excerpt: Basketball – one of the few American sports we play here in the UK, but still comes nowhere near the popularity of our own sports, such as football, rugby and tennis. That said, there is a following, and even British teams, so there is bound to be some interest in this latest basketball title from Sega Sports. As soon as I saw the ESPN logo in NBA 2K3, it reminded me of the terrible ESPN NBA 2 Night.

  • Excerpt: NBA 2K3 is easily the best basketball game you're going to find for your videogame console. It perhaps lacks flash and MTV-generation pacing, but that's exactly why it's so superior to other courtside offerings.

  • Excerpt: The Dreamcast-born basketball series has certainly come some way. Making its debut under the 2K line, Visual Concepts has one-upped itself with each and every new carnation. With the only competition in sight being NBA Live 2003, NBA 2K3 does indeed bring some new things to the table, and the end result is quite good.

NBA 2K3 Review

  • Excerpt: Without question, NBA 2K3 is one of the most accurate representations of professional basketball to date. From posting up on the block to driving through the lane for a layup or a monstrous dunk, nearly every facet of the sport is executed very well, though that's not to say that there aren't some chinks in NBA 2K3's armor.

NBA 2K3

  • Conclusion: Overall (and speaking as a rather apathetic console BB player) NBA2K3 is no great leap from last year's game and doesn't visually surpass its rivals, but as a comprehensive and accessible basketball game with excellent multiplayer options it's hard to beat. I know a lot of UK gamers haven't looked at an NBA game since the days of NBA Jam, so this game may be a good reason to give footie and Timesplitters 2 a rest and use that multitap for something else…
  • Pros: Easy to get into, but has some serious depth., Smart TV-style presentation., A good multiplayer game and 'street' style courts to add some variety.
  • Cons: Maybe just too many options and variables that can be daunting and confusing., Samey gameplay can make a season feel like it will last forever., Well, it's basketball isn't it?
