MVP 06: NCAA Baseball

Strategy Informer
2 May 2007
  • Conclusion: Don’t like college baseball? That’s ok, too! Sure, there are a few noticeable differences between the MLB licensed and college based gameplay. From aluminum bats to the ten run rule (which automatically ends the game when a team is down by ten runs), MVP 06 NCAA Baseball is as real as virtual college baseball gets. But for those who prefer to play the MLB way, don’t let this game’s NCAA premise deter you!

Playstation Illustrated

  • Excerpt: After EA bought the exclusive rights to the NFL, 2K Sports shot back a volley of its own by acquiring the rights to the MLB (though the deal did allow for 1st party MLB games). This left EA in the same bind as 2K was with the NFL; they had a great engine and no license to use it with. However, it turned out that EA had an ace up its sleeve that 2K didn't.

Samardzija, who stands 6' 5'' inches tall on the mound, pitch a game between Paul Mainieri's Fighting Irish and Big East rival Pittsburgh.

  • Excerpt: The shift to fictional college players and college parks has sucked a lot of wind out of the game's sails. What's dumbfounding is that EA Sports hasn't done anything to beef up the atmosphere in other areas. If you go to an actual sporting event at a college campus, you'll end up smack dab in the middle of a party atmosphere. The energy is palpable, with drunken fans holding up derogatory signs, chanting catchy limericks, and yelling obscenities at the visiting team.
