Excerpt: Wow. PlayStation 2. It's been a while since I've played a game on the PS2, proper. When my (late) original PS3 was still with us, I would play PS2 games on it and at least smooth out the graphics a bit. The PS2 is definitely a "last-generation" system, and the graphics in MotorStorm Arctic Edge show it. That having been said, the graphics aren't bad for the PS2; it's just hard to go back to the PS2 after you've played games on the PS3.
Excerpt: Don't push me 'cause I'm close to the edge. Alas, by some strange matter of fate, or perhaps by the pluriform variables of mere chance in its “ commodius vicus of recirculation ”, the Motorstorm series and Yours Truly have once again found themselves occupying overlapping regions of space-time. Two years ago, things were different.
Excerpt: MotorStorm is a great franchise, and it's unfortunate that the PSP game, which launched before the PS2 game, hasn't performed very well in sales. The PS2 version is now here, as well, and I really cannot stress how great both versions are. Granted, there are some differences between the two games, and the PSP version is actually more feature filled, but you can't go wrong with either game.
Excerpt: The MotorStorm: franchise made its debut on Sony’s PS3 at launch and a PSP version was released a few weeks ago. For those without either one of those machines MotorStorm: Arctic Edge is now on the aging PS2. The game is a virtual port from the the PSP game and has no online components.
MotorStorm: Arctic Edge (PSP) Review - Left Out in the Cold
28 October 2009
Excerpt: Motorstorm in your pocket. Sounds cool, right? Well, it almost is. I'm a huge fan of the console versions of MotorStorm and was intrigued earlier this year when Sony announced a PSP release for the series. Could BigBig Studios bring the gorgeously chaotic MotorStorm experience to the small screen? Yes and no. Yes because Arctic Edge gets the feel and attitude of MotorStorm right. No because the physics system and difficulty are inconsistent.
Pros: ...You've experienced snow. ...The name Sir Isaac Newton means nothing to you. ...You only play games for an hour before putting them down forever.
Cons: ...You've ever loved a PS3 MotorStorm game. ...Copious amounts of motion blur make you vomit. ...Two online multiplayer modes on a handheld console just isn't enough
Excerpt: I love both versions of Motorstorm on the PS3, and to be honest I was very sceptical about a PSP version. How could such a graphically impressive, fast paced action racer even be possible on the PSP hardware? Surely it’ll couldn’t compare to it’s big brothers.
