Summary: I'm a big fan of motorcycle gp racing and after seeing this game I immediately picked it up. Moto Grand Prix has all the famous 500cc racers from the late 90's season; Mick Doohan, Max Biaggi, Norick Abe. The graphics are really done well. The colors are sharp and the graphics run very fast, utilizing the most from the P2 platform. Some aspects of the game could be improved.
Summary: I think this game is for fans of motorcycle racing in some ways, but in other ways it's for video game fans. People who don't understand how the real riders go so fast find it harder to control the bikes, especially with simulation turned on. High-side crashes occur frequently when you apply the throttle mid-corner, but that makes the game incredibly intoxicating!
Summary: I have little experience with console racing games. I've only had my PS2 for a few months and this was one of the first games I bought. It's a blast to play. Maybe it's because I don't have alot of experience with other race games but I didn't find the controls any harder to learn than any other game. If you start out slow and practice a little you'll find yourself powersliding in no time.
Summary: I wasnt sure about this game and i blindly bought it not knowing if Id really enjoy it. It turns out that it is a very good game. It only takes a couple races to get the controls down, and the graphics are excellent. If youre not one for braking you may want to go the other direction though. It features a good number of licensed bikes but you start out with them all right off the bat so it takes away the point of competing for new ones. This is the games only downfall.
Excerpt: MotoGP3, like the prior MotoGP games, is based on the MotoGP, the premier motorcycle racing tour that takes racers around the world as they compete for the gold. A group of twenty-one riders lock heads as they race around hairpin turns and continuously break and accelerate, finding the perfect balance of speed and, well, balance. Like previous MotoGP games, MotoGP3 offers up an Arcade, Season, Challenge, and Time Trial mode.
Excerpt: When it comes to racing games, Namco always has stood shoulder to shoulder with the best of them, whether in the arcades or in the consoles. The company's arcade legacy stands on its own, and with series such as Ridge Racer, Suzuka 8 Hours, and Moto GP, the company's blend of arcade-style racing with unforgettable graphics and sound look to keep Namco at the top.
Excerpt: I really enjoyed this game and i think others have to because i dont think anyone can dislike this game if they like racing games as this is a perfect example of what the ps2 was built for. At the begining it is hard but that's the beauty of the game. As you go through it more and more it does get easier and harder at the same time.
Pros: quality of the bikes, tracks and engine noise
Excerpt: The new version is smoother and more responsive then the last and the difficulty levels are far more realistic. This game handles great and I never knew highsiding could be so much fun. There are plenty of bikes to choose from and also to win as you progress through the game. If you are looking for a game that you and your friends can all play then try the four player mode with the best split screen available and no squashed or stretched graphics.
Summary: Got this game yesterday and was initially impressed by the graphics especially the replays but like everyone else says, it does need more tracks. You do get certain bonus items for things like overtaking 15 riders in a race but this isn't difficult when you start from the back and there are 20 in front of you. Not sure what these are yet but looking at the other reviews I'll bet they're not hidden tracks.
Excerpt: Moto GP is an arcade bike sim. It has incredible graphics that draw you into the incredible gameplay. The bikes handle smoothly and realistic scenery and tracks add to the whole mood of the game. The 5 tracks have crowds of people that react to every move of the riders, cheer, wave and wave flags of your team to make you go faster...and you do. Every detail of the game is perfect and makes you want to race faster and faster to beat your rivals.
