Summary: While definitely not the best game in the series, nothing beats the one that started it all. And it's in English, thank the heavens. The only thing I found wrong with it is the camera, it is atrocious. Combat system is strange, but once you get used to it, it isn't too bad. I definitely recommend it for people looking for more Monster Hunter. But be warned, it is not for everyone.
Summary: Monster Hunter is a classic. It's one of the best franchises on the PS2 and PSP, and perhaps soon the DS. This game arrived in perfect condition just like I ordered it, and it's a great game with beautiful graphics (for a PS2, at least, it won't stand up to a PS4 or anything obviously). I have no complaints.

Summary: There really is nothing like Monster Hunter and it has a surprising amount of depth for a PS2 game, and this is just from a solo player point of view, I have never played online. As far as the depth goes I rate it right up there with GTA3 and Dark Cloud 2, both great, lot of depth PS2 games. Couple of negatives about Monster Hunter is the controls and interface could have been better and more refined. The graphics range from average to sub par.
Summary: Bought it for my Grand daughter to play on my 'old and outdated' (according to her) PS2. She loves it, and according to her (the expert) the graphics, are excellent, and not only does she love playing this 'original' version on the PS2, she has convinced me to start my own quest, and I also am having fun. Recommend it if you don't mind your youngsters laughing at you every time you get killed by a creature from the Jurassic era.
Summary: I love this game. I lost my old copy, ended up with the newest edition for the DS and I still want to play the old edition. The game play is smoother, the options are wider. Its just a lot of fun. Its challenging enough to keep me interested, but no so overly challenging that I lose interest.
Summary: I do not play online or anyfing lyk dat but i finished easily with my trusty Serpantblade, which is currently a great serpantblade, and no, i am not a sad single man who liyes with iz mom and sits playin on iz computer games l8 into da night, NO! i'm just ur average teenager wiv my long hair and my sk8 board. if u wanna finish da game just upgrade ur boneblade to a gr8 serpantblade and ur on fire babi! WOOO!!!
Summary: Don't get me wrong, Monster Hunter is a great game, but it will require a lot of patience. Before you can start hunting real monsters, you will have to A LOT of basic and boring stuff first, such as catching fish, collecting plants and insects, and cooking meat. It can be a fun novelty at first, but it soon gets repetitive and a little boring. But when the boredom sets in you can just go and butcher some random animals if you like, so it's not all bad.
Summary: this game is a work of art it takes time to get into and without item combination list weapon combination list etc it can alittle boring especially offline doing the same mission over and over. but after time the true game unfolds and what could be better than taking down a massive dragon with your freinds.
