Excerpt: We realize that not everyone can afford a PlayStation 3 just yet, or perhaps they've yet to justify a purchase. And we also realize that the PlayStation 3 has games that are also available as PlayStation 2 versions. MLB 08: The Show is one such game. It is Sony's newest baseball entry into their highly acclaimed franchise. Last year's MLB 07 for the PlayStation 2 wasn't bad, but it didn't quite reach greatness.
Excerpt: Most sports games are good but notgreat. There are small things that have been added throughout the years toenhance the overall experience. The problem has always been that there havebeen many upgrades but many downgrades. For example: it always seems as if thecreators spend too much time on making the stadiums looking more lifelike andthe player’s features and movements don’t improve from the previous year, andof course vice-versa.
Excerpt: While I’m a hardcore Hockey lover I occasionally like to try some of the other sports videogames out there. As I look outside my window I can’t help but reflect that it is spring time and baseball is just getting started with 08-09 season. To coincide with the new Major League Baseball season Sony is bringing its strong running series to the PS2 with MLB 08: The Show.
Conclusion: For the most part players know what to expect from the soundtrack to MLB 08 . You have your typical fare of rock and rap songs to choose from. Nothing overly special, but enough to keep the action going and keep your heart racing. Commentary is handled by Cambell, Vasgersian and Hudler, and for the most part their calls are right on queue. Once and a while a remark might be off, but for the most part everything is accurate. The PlayStation 2 is standing on its last leg.
