  • Excerpt: The mainstay of Midnight Club 2 takes place offline, with the Career Mode putting you in the driver’s seat of your not-so-furious ride. While the focus of the game is blazing tricked-out streetcars, you won’t find tweaking and customization here. The only way to improve your vehicle is to win a better one on the city streets. Instead of running to the nearest tuner shop and screaming “NOS! I need NOS!

  • Conclusion: THE VERDICT: You don't have to be a die-hard motorist to enjoy Midnight Club 3's fantastic speed and irresistible playability, but if you are one you'll appreciate it all the more. Another triumph from Rockstar, and a game which others in the street-racing genre should aspire to.

Midnight Club II

Playstation Illustrated
27 October 2004
  • Excerpt: Step into the life of an illegal street racer with Midnight Club II . Drive by the bright lights from the big cities of Los Angeles, Paris, and Tokyo. Granted, things can get a little blurry when you're driving in excess of 100 miles per hour, but nonetheless, things are looking good for the racing sequel. Feel free to run over or through objects like street lamps, panes of glass, or even pedestrians.

  • Excerpt: Well if we didn’t know it by now, the guys at Rockstar are pure criminals. If they never make a game again, they’ll always be remembered for the Grand Theft Auto series and now, we have them throwing us an illegal street racing bone in the form of Midnight Club II . I wasn’t a huge fan of the original Midnight Club , and despite glowing reports and a thousand print advertisements, I wasn’t overly worried about playing MCII.

  • Excerpt: The original Midnight Club Street Racing was a PS2 game that I had always gone back to for a quick session every now and then. It had a grip on me like few PS2 games did. While some found the PS2 launch inadmissible (read: lacking a killer app), it still had its share of highly enjoyable PS2 titles -- Midnight Club was one of them.

  • Excerpt: Racing games aren’t my cup of tea. Heck, I really don’t like any racing games, with the exception of a few good ones (at least in my opinion). Games like Gran Turismo 3 (PS2), Cruis’n USA (N64), & Mario Kart 64 are some of my favorite racing games. Well, I don’t know if Mario Kart 64 is really a racing game (more of a cart-racing game, but oh well), it is still a great title in my book.
