Metal Slug Anthology PS2 Review

Console Obsession
31 May 2010
  • Excerpt: Marking the tenth anniversary of the SNK series, this PS2 disc collects together seven different entries in the long-running franchise. This review could be over in just ten words – “Run. Jump. Shoot. Throw. Repeat until dead. Buy it now.” – but that would not tell the whole story. The original Metal Slug was a breath of fresh air, the beautiful hand-drawn graphics setting a new benchmark.

Metal Slug Anthology Review

VideoGamer.com
3 May 2008
  • Excerpt: SNK's Metal Slug games have always occupied an unusual place on the gaming landscape. While stuck defiantly in the past, they are certainly well loved, and older copies on the NeoGeo attract impressive bids when they do appear on eBay. They also have a reputation for excellence, but most gamers have never played them, or, have struggled to get to grips with their unique style.

  • Conclusion: THE VERDICT: Even at full price this compendium would be very much worth it, but at a budget price it's more or less essential. Anyone who plays is guaranteed fun, and whilst the games won't last forever, they are certainly infinitely replayable for short bursts of mega-ultra-fun. Highly, highly recommended.

PSX Extreme

  • Excerpt: Back in the day, it was all about the side-scrolling action offered in both the arcade and at home on our 8-bit and 16-bit systems. Granted, there wasn't a whole lot of diversity in the realm of 2D side-scrolling action, but several of those games still represent the absolute pinnacle of "twitch-gaming" glory. These old titles not only conjure up rosy nostalgic memories of the past, but they also remind us how punishing early video games really were.

Metal Slug Anthology

  • Conclusion: You are met by wave upon wave of heavily armed soldiers with a variety of weapons, guns, grenades, flamethrowers, tanks, camels, planes etc. Throw into the mix the occasional Metal Slug armoured bosses, (think Metal Gear in cartoon form) and you get the picture.
  • Pros: Classic 2D coin op shooter action is highly addictive, Co-op mode, 7 games in one
  • Cons: Looks, old now, All 7 games are very similar

“7 maal chaos in één pakket”

Review-PS2: Metal Slug Anthology

Playstadium
20 May 2008

Metal Slug Anthology

JeuxVideo.fr
5 May 2008
