is my favorite new franchise of the generation. The beautiful combination of expansive open-world environments, general freedom, and the flowing free-running mechanic that works extremely well has always kept me in my chair. And while the latest entry is just as addictive, just as technically accomplished, and just as fulfilling, there are some odd drawbacks. And they bug me. Read more

You are met by wave upon wave of heavily armed soldiers with a variety of weapons, guns, grenades, flamethrowers, tanks, camels, planes etc. Throw into the mix the occasional Metal Slug armoured bosses, (think Metal Gear in cartoon form) and you get the picture. Read more
THE VERDICT: Even at full price this compendium would be very much worth it, but at a budget price it's more or less essential. Anyone who plays is guaranteed fun, and whilst the games won't last forever, they are certainly infinitely replayable for short bursts of mega-ultra-fun. Highly, highly recommended. Read more
Back in the day, it was all about the side-scrolling action offered in both the arcade and at home on our 8-bit and 16-bit systems. Granted, there wasn’t a whole lot of diversity in the realm of 2D side-scrolling action, but several of those games still represent the absolute pinnacle of “twitch-gaming” glory. These old titles not only conjure up rosy nostalgic memories of the past, but they also remind us how punishing early video games really were. Read more
There is little plot here: in Overdose , you are Belial, the bastard child of an angel and devil. This storyline is introduced with a cheesy and minutes long monologue about how angry Belial is, mixed with the images of five turned-through book pages. I got a bad feeling followed by something so bad I can’t tell you what it is until the end of the review. You have been trapped for thousands of years in prison. Read more

After being extremely disappointed with the Wii version of this title, I decided to bite the bullet and spend the extra cash so I could play it with some decent controls on the PS2. And for the most part, I was not disappointed. I was instantly wisked back to my teen years in the 90's while taking in this great series. I've always seen Metal Slug not only as great gameplay, but also as a work of art with its detailed graphics and fluid animation. Read more or see product

This game was originally a Neo-Geo favourite and if you don't know what a Neo-Geo is then think of the Neo-Geo as the PS3 of its day (20 years ago). The Neo-Geo was really an arcade quality home entertainment system that had no equal (Sega Master systems, SNES, Megadrive were all out of its league) but it was just too expensive and was the machine you read about rather than played. It was first released on December 14, 2006 for Wii, in North America.
Its story involved the Peregrine Falcon (PF) Squad, a small but skilled team of soldiers serving under the Regular Army’s special operations division, who fight against the army of General Donald Morden to prevent a massive coup d’etat and the creation of a New World Order under General Morden. The PF Squad battles an alien threat to Earth and other supernatural threats including yetis, zombies, ambulatory Venus flytraps, giant crabs and mummies. It is characteristic of run and guns that come from the Contra series. The enemies come in hordes and the weapons have high fire rates.
