Medal of Honor Vanguard Review (PS2)

About.com

  • Conclusion: Medal of Honor Vanguard is the latest WWII shooter brought to us by EA. In it, you fight members of the Axis of Evil (the old school one that is), blow up tanks, so on and so forth. Sound familiar? Well, it should, as Vanguard does so little to change a diluted genre, sticking to tried a true mechanics that are starting to come off as lazy and boring.
  • Pros: Decent cinematics, It’s hard to argue against shooting Nazis, Decent soundtrack and sound effects., Decent cinematics, It’s hard to argue against shooting Nazis, Decent soundtrack and sound effects.
  • Cons: Didn't I play a WWI first person shooter last year?, And the year before that., And the year before that., Dated graphics (like last year and the year before)., No online multiplayer (like last year and the year before)., Didn't I play a WWI first person shooter last year?, And the year before that., And the year before that., Dated graphics (like last year and the year before)., No online multiplayer (like last year and the year before).

  • Conclusion: THE VERDICT: The Wii control scheme does nothing good for the game, bar the grenade throwing, and just serves to highlight that the 'obvious' games shouldn't necessarily be being made for Nintendo's console. As for the PS2 version, you can probably add a point to the final score, but unless Medal of Honor: Airborne really reinvigorates the series, it's a brand that would be best left to die with the last-gen consoles.
