  • Excerpt: When we first saw Max Payne, we were amazed at the remarkable bullet-time effects and gameplay. The game was poor, though in the fact that it was short and the graphics were not great. Max Payne 2 was aiming to change all of that. Even though it is still on the short side, it truly improves on the last.

  • Excerpt: It could be argued that Max Payne is just an elaborate tech demo; a way to show off the technology that Remedy Entertainment cooked up, and indeed the MAX-FX engine they've crafted and now brought into a second iteration is truly a showpiece for the latest PC technology. Given the relative shortness of the Max Payne games so far, it's safe to say that Remedy is banking on licensing the technology after the game's release, much like id Software with the Quake (or more...

Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne

  • Conclusion: Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne does very well to continue developing the narrative of the original, and does an excellent job of resolving some of the open conflicts of said original. There definitely is room to make Max Payne a trilogy, but unfortunately we've heard next to nothing from Rockstar about intentions of any sort to bring about a third and concluding game.

Max Payne 2 (ps2)
