Summary: If you're looking to complete your collection or just want a PS2 game to play, Madden 2005 isn't bad. In a perfect world the offense and game play of Madden 2004 would be merged with the graphics, play moves, and defensive play calling abilities of Madden 2005. That would be a good game regardless of system and year. As it is Madden 2005 is fun, even if dated. If you've played Madden games before you already know the basic controls.
Summary: I wanted a Football game but I couldn't decide which one so I got both. After playing more than 10 games for each title I have to say ESPN NFL 2K5 is better. ESPN has better presentation. Madden's presentation is lame. The play menu takes up more than half of the bottom TV screen, so you all see is players' top half, their legs looks chopped off. To make things worse, whenever you scroll thru the playbook the action gets paused a bit which makes all action choppy.
Summary: This would be such a fun game if it wasn't nearly impossible to have any kind of running game. I'm playing at "Pro" level, the second easiest level of play, I have a 99 rated running back and a 90 rated offensive line, and I'm averaging 1.7 yards per carry! Too often I don't even make it back to the line of scrimmage after the handoff before being crushed by the defense, even when playing the worst teams in the league.
Summary: Well being the football fanatic that I am I couldn't wait for this title to come out. I mean anyone that likes football games can not wait for the madden series to come out each year. I've been playing Madden since Madden '93 and when I saw the clips and the footage of the extra material for the game and the retro games it brought back a lot of memories.
Summary: Ive been playing Madden games for quite a few years now and every year each game seems to get better and better every year with better graphics and new things added to the game to increase the realism and fun factor. Every Madden game would get better every year, all except Madden 2005. Ive been patiently waiting for '05 to come out and when it finally did I headed right down to my local Blockbuster to check it out and wow was it a letdown. First off the graphics suck!
Summary: After last years greatly improved edition of Madden, the 2005 edition feels just a tad too samey for my liking. Having played the game since its release I find myself becoming quite bored at times. The Franchise Mode is the only feature with depth. I never understood EA's decision to remove the option to play a single season rather then a 30 year Franchise Mode. Also to make things slightly worse the customising of the Franchise mode is now gone.
