A cross between Return of the King and FF X

Neoico, Amazon
17 January 2006
  • Summary: Graphicaly this game has all the polish of ROTK but it plays very much like FF X, any one familiar to the game will recognise the turn based system and flow of battle. The skill system does have some freedom but is mostly a very linear affair, if you like the turn based battles of most RPGs then...

Ah.

Eths Jas. Das., Amazon

  • Summary: Alright, but becomes a little boring owing to the repetitive and completely predictable fights. Also the fights aren't normal; they tried and failed to renovate fighting in games by making it like a trading card game. The story is interesting and uniquely brilliant, though.

good but not great

Amazon

  • Summary: Well i'm almost finished this game (on the last chapter), quite good but you have to be a fan of Lord of the Rings i think. There are a LOT of film cut scenes. Almost the entire 3 films!

Bit of a let-down

Michael de Waal, Amazon

  • Summary: It's been quite a long time since I played this game, but I remember having a lot of mixed feelings about it and in the end leaving it unfinished. Before it came out I'd heard many comparisons to Final Fantasy X, and being a huge fan of FF series, decided to purchase it upon release.

Plays very well - until you finish it

Bill Morris, Amazon

  • Summary: For those who do not have the game, this is nothing like the other games in the LOTR franchise (read: bandwagon). Those games are in the nature of platform games, after the fashion of Dynasty Warriors. This, on the other hand, is a Role Playing Game (RPG) where you take turns to attack enemies.

Its a merchandised Final Fantasy; To give it too much credit

  • Summary: To be perfectly honest, I bought this game by accident. I meant to put Battlefield of Middle Earth on my Christmas list, but put this down instead! Not such a bad decision I thought. Lotr has turned out two good games in the past : Two towers and return of the king.

alright game few problems

Amazon

  • Summary: This game strays a bit from the normal Lord of the Rings style. Instead of controlling one character you control up to 3. There are more characters than this but you can only battle with three at a time. The graphics are extremely good which makes the game play more fun than if they were bad.

Good graphics, bad game play.

Amazon

  • Summary: Though most of you might not agree i liked the hack em and slash em style of the first two games. If this is what your after then this is not the game for you. It is a rather dull repeating game and is turn based. the graphics a very good but the levels are limited.
