Summary: It's a racing game...my favorite kind. It's why I own a console. However, graphics like this aren't acceptable anymore nowadays. Go license the GT3 engine, and come back with a newer product. The game play is good, and I love the accelerated dusk-to-dawn approach.
Long load times, annoying save scheme, terrible sound
Q. P. Liu, Amazon

Summary: I haven't played it much yet, but there are some immediately obvious annoyances. Obviously, the load times is one. The save scheme is another. If you change the options, it saves when you leave the options. If you do a time trial, it saves when you leave. I haven't gotten to any races yet, but I assume it would behave the same. It would be nicer to have a save item in the menu, or even making the save optional, instead of being forced to save.
Summary: Could Have done a lot better. The game just doesn't feel right. When you play it, the handling is unpredictable, the setup functions are not very useful and hardly change anything, and the gearbox is stupid: it bogs down in one gear while the speed increases until suddenly the revs rise stupidly. The supposed driving aids, such as traction control(?) are also stupid, as they switch between being on and off.
Summary: Don't beleive the hype. This is nowhere near the game it should have been. The PS1 version had so much going for it that seperated it from other racers. For example an excellent damage model that meant you could struggle on. There was a rev limiter, so you could either save fuel and cruise on a long stint, or really hammer the engine in qualifying risking a blow up. All this has gone, leaving a half finished game with the ability to race for a very long time.
