Kuon Review

GameSpot
20 April 2005
  • Summary: Kuon is inhibited by ponderous combat controls, its repetitious nature, and an overall lack of depth.
  • Pros: Creepy ancient Japanese mansions rule, Interesting storyline
  • Cons: Combat controls are slow and wonky, Multiple play-throughs to get to the ending, Fairly short

  • Excerpt: Kuon on the PS2 seems like a minor release when compared to the new Resident Evil 4, but then perhaps that's part of its appeal. As an import title that you might have a hard time finding at your local rental outlet, Kuon offers rich import flavors, gameplay, and traditional survival horror control schemes. Does it have a place on your shelf? Read the review to find out.

Kuon

  • Conclusion: I am a big fan of the survival horror adventure genre, and have played pretty much every single one of them, so I am always eager to play a new one that comes out. I am afraid Kuon doesn’t really offer anything new to the genre that hasn’t been done previously, and often done better than here; Multiple characters and seeing different sides of the story? - Resident Evil 2. Ancient Japan and magic? - Onimusha offered both of those. Annoying controls?
  • Pros: Multiple sides of the story to play through, Lovely art style, Original Japanese dialogue is a good bonus
  • Cons: Offers nothing new to a crowded genre, Annoying controls, Poor combat, Badly localized in parts

Kuon

  • Summary: The second in the series of this Japanese horror title, not many of you will have heard anything about this game, we hadn't played the original and hadn't even heard of this one until it ended up in our pidgeon hole at the BO offices! The front cover looked freaky enough though!

Kuon
