  • Excerpt: In the very recent past EA Sports has been criticized for being "too realistic" with their Knockout Kings franchise, some saying that it is more like a simulator then an actual boxing/fighting game. Well, Knockout King 2002 brings us a game that has been promised to be the best of the series. And if the cover of the game has anything to do with the level of gameplay expertise inside, this will truly be "the greatest of all time.

  • Excerpt: When first hearing of a sequel in the Knockout Kings series, I was both excited and anxious in emotion. EA continually presents one of the best boxing depictions since the Mike Tyson series and delivers a very solid and powerful representation of the sport. The Playstation 2 has been lucky enough to harness the benefits of this series, as now both KOK 2001 and KOK 2002 have given gamers excellent entertainment.

  • Excerpt: Fighting games may be a dime a dozen these days but EA Sports’ latest boxing simulation, Knockout Kings 2002 , is the undisputed champ of them all. But it’s taken the company a few years to get it right -- those who stepped into the ring with the previous versions of the "Knockout Kings" games may recall the action was too slow, not to mention difficult to control. Fortunately, third time’s the charm with this franchise.

  • Excerpt: What happens when you put together some realistic arenas with some highly-tuned boxers of past and present? You get EA Sport 's new game Knockout Kings 2002 . Boxing games are in their own universe it seems, as relatively little needs to be worried about graphically. You need to show realism when the boxers move and punch. You need to show a charged crowd in lifelike arenas.

  • Summary: Still not quite a "must have" game but it's easily the best boxing game available. Plenty of improvements over the 2001 version, but Mike Tyson from Codemasters is just around the corner.

  • Conclusion: Although you can fight anything up to 12 rounds, we would suggest starting off on three - as your fingers, hands and wrists really do take a beating while frenetically punching. Knockout Kings is a huge amount of fun, especially in two-player mode, but only in short bursts.
