Knockout Kings 2001 (PS2)

Digital Sportspage
22 May 2009
  • Excerpt: It’s either the last of the 2000-2001 crop of console boxing games, or the first, depending on your point of view - but EA's Knockout Kings has finally made its way to the PS2. While the gameplay remains largely unchanged from its PSX predecessor, the graphics and audio packages have been given a serious boost... but at what cost?

Knockout Kings 2001 – Review

GameCritics.com
12 October 2004
  • Excerpt: Knockout Kings 2001 for the PlayStation 2 is everything that real boxing wants to be. The judges can't be bought; there are no ethically challenged promoters; no exclusive contracts with cable channels preventing certain matches; there's only one universal ranking system with no alphabet soup federations; there are only three weight classes; fighters don't lose their sanity and do something unspeakable like bite someones ear off; and most importantly, there aren't any...

  • Excerpt: Knockout Kings is a fine looking game, there's no question about that. EA used a 3D face/body mapping technology unique to the PS2 version to ensure that each boxer looks just like their real-life counterpart. Unlike what you'll find in Live 2001, each boxer is instantly identifiable when they walk into the arena.

Knockout Kings 2001

Playstation Illustrated

  • Excerpt: Making it's debut for the PlayStation 2, Knockout Kings 2001 's graphics delivered some mighty fine jabs, but couldn't come up with a finishing haymaker. First off, player models were exceptionally defined, including their facial features and muscle definition. However, they seemed somewhat cartoonish and blocky, which I don't think EA Sports was going for. Truly though, the models themselves are pretty incredible looking.

  • Excerpt: Two noteworthy improvements for this third go' round of EA's boxing simulation. First, Knockout Kings 2001's improved controller interface really lets the serious sweet-science buff get into professional barshing. Second, the mystics at Electronic Arts have obviously managed to harness the horsepower of the PS2, making this a graphically graceful, intricately detailed, and smoothly emulated representation of the intricate, smooth and graceful art of pummelling.

Knockout Kings 2001 -

Futuregamez.net
10 December 2004
  • Excerpt: Boxing is such a brutal sport. Punching someone in the head until they pass out or don't know where they are isn't something that can be called a safe sport, and there are quite frequently opponents. However be it our violent nature, or our need for entertainment one thing is certain, boxing generates a lot of interest among the human race.

  • Conclusion: Si vous recherchez l'aspect simulation, K.O. Kings 2001 répondra tout à fait à vos exigences, il rassemble tous les éléments susceptibles de satisfaire les passionnés du "noble art". Bien loin de Ready To Rumble 2, K.O. Kings vous donnera la possibilité de participer à des matchs particulièrement réalistes. Avec cette dernière mouture de la série de ses jeux de boxe, EA Sports nous offre la référence des simulations de boxe sur console.
