Excerpt: Since its inception, The King of Fighters series has had a dedicated fan base, that have followed the series religiously, through both the joyful highlights and crippling disappointments, purchasing the requisite arcade stick to get the most out of the game and dedicating themselves to mastering the many intricacies of the series. Blood, sweat and tears may or may not have been included.
Summary: The 2D fighter will never have the same level of popularity as it once did, since when 3D became the new 2D, but it will also never die when companies like SNK can still provide classics of this level. If you are even remotely into 2D fighters… if you still carry your memories of playing Streetfighter 2 in an arcade or on a SNES deep in the murky past… you owe it to yourself to pay homage to the new King.
Excerpt: The King of Fighters XI (KOF XI) is the latest instalment in The King of Fighters series. The numerical distinction for the series now is based primarily on SNK Playmore wanting to avoid being locked into a rigorous yearly schedule of releases in FIFA Football fashion. With this, it shows that SNK Playmore still have a mind of their own for now. SNK Playmore is also releasing ANOTHER Maximum Impact game which personally, and for a lot of KOF fans out there, is a mistake.
