Summary: It’s time again for SNK to do precisely what it does best, and that is release a new yearly entry to their venerable King of Fighters series. With the recent flop of Capcom’s Fighting Evolution for PS2 SNK could capitalize on the gap left in the hearts of 2-D fighting game lovers.
Excerpt: SNK rocks it old school and delivers a solid two disk set that should get any 2D fighting fan excited. The King of Fighters is all about deep combat and interesting characters, and the 2002 and 2003 versions have all of that plus some new twists to keep you hooked. Read our full review.
Conclusion: KOF 2002 is a fantastic distillation of the series' classic gameplay and KOF 2003 does a wonderful job of trying to update the formula without breaking things too much, but this is after all a classic collection, and should be taken as such.
