Can't use SingStar microphones!

Summary: I don't understand why PS 2 would make a karaoke game that's not even compatible with SingStar microphones, when Singstar is supposedly PS 2's choice for karaoke games! I had to purchase a separate mike just to use with this game, and I didn't appreciate the lack of instruction that this would be the case. The reason I gave it a few stars is because the game is actually fun and has a few good songs on it.
Summary: I purchase this game for my 7 year old, he does not know most of the song but he still likes the game. My daughter on the other hand, she loves it. She is 14 and her friends come over to play it and they play that game all night long. Most of the time I have to tell them to go to bed. Wow, not particularly for a 7 year old but they can have fun if they read well but my 14 year old it's a party when we hook that game up....
Summary: Unless you live under a rock you know a little bit about "American Idol". Its exactly like the show. You make an avatar and sing your heart out and yes....you are judged. Good selection of songs and levels to compete at. Fun for all ages!
Summary: I have all of the Singstar games for the ps2, and I thought it would be fun to try a different kind of singing game. I was not all that impressed, and I honestly have only played this game one time. I guess it would be a good choice for someone who wants more of a video game. It was fun to pick my character and outfit. I don't want to sit there and listen to the judges. I just want to pick a song, sing it, pick another song, etc...
Summary: It's good if you like the American Idol set up, but I personally liked Volume 3 better, I think it had a more recent song selection with fun beats whereas this game has a lot of old and melodic songs. When I play with friends we end up not playing this one long and switching to the other song in the other volumes because they lend themselves well to party/group play.
Be warned if you have a SingStar game, the microphone is not compatible with American Idol game

Summary: We were very excited while waiting for this game to arrive. We had played it many, many times at friends houses and loved it! We already have SingStar so we knew that our girls, aged 9 & 10, were ready for more karaoke fun! When the American Idol game arrived, we quickly ripped the packaging off and popped the game into our PS2 with great anticipation, however we were so disappointed to see that the SingStar microphone is not compatible with this game.
Summary: Like others have mentioned the case implies this game is a karaoke-style game. It is NOT! All you do is hit buttons at a precise time and your person sings well. Even this site says that microphones are an accesory to the game.....yet you can't actually plug in a microphone and get it to work, not even for the "karaoke" portion of the game. I won the title American Idol on my first try...and I'm not real good with the buttons. I wonder if anyone ever loses?
Summary: I bought the American Idol game a few days ago from a local electronics store, and to be honest, the game wasn't too bad. Perhaps I was not expecting so much from an inexpensive game, but overall it was fun to play. I mean, what more do you want for $20 bucks?
