Excerpt: Beautiful organic landscapes, sun kissed oceans and traditional platform gameplay are among the things I do not associate with this game. Jak & Daxter are back (contrary to what the title would have you believe) and for better or worse their third instalment in the beloved series has undergone yet another transformation.
Summary: The third and final installment in Naughty
Dog's Jak & Daxter trilogy takes the series even further from its roots as a
traditional platformer. This time, the game offers more driving, fighting and
combat sequences than ever before, along with more traditional platforming
elements. The game isn't nearly as bleak as Jak II and has a more expansive feel
thanks to its desert setting. It's not nearly as hard as the last game, either.
Conclusion: THE VERDICT: Jak 3 has many strong points as you would expect. A second sequel should have ironed out the flaws of its (ahem) precursors, but the second Jak game put the series back too far. As much as you want to like Jak 3, ultimately there are still too many flaws here for it to be as fun as Sly 2 or Ratchet 3. For those that can stick it out though, there is much here worth experiencing.
