The perfect evolution, and the perfect sequel

  • Excerpt: Jak and Daxter 2. Another sequel in an age where they are pumped out like ready meals. Another clone of the original. Another tenner gone on essentially the same product. Or so you might think - because Jak and Daxter 2 just isn't the same game at all. Different plot, different setting, different gameplay, different Jak. In fact, they've ditched Jak's sidekick Daxter from the title and it is merely called 'Jak 2 - Renegade'. So, all good then?

The first game holds nothing on this, at all.

  • Excerpt: The amazing sequel to a game i thought couldn't get any better... i didn't realize how wrong i could be. The thing i like about this game, is that as soon as you put the disc in, it has a cutscene from the end of the last game, which obviously lets you know it takes off from the last game, unlike some other games which go off story. and in this game, the main character is no longer a mute, he has in fact got the most lines out of anyone in it, which was a nice surprise.

  • Excerpt: Jak 2 Renegade is a platforming game developed by Naughty Dog exclusively for the Playstation 2. The story picks up after the first game and Jak and Daxter come across some Precurser machinery, once activated it takes them to Haven City where Jak is captured by the forces of Baron Praxis and it takes two years for his buddy Daxter to get him out of there. Jak has gained a lot of attitude in this game, maybe thanks to the Dark Eco experiments that were carried out on him.

  • Excerpt: General: Jak 2: Renegade is one of the best platform-action games for the PS2 I have ever played. When I saw it for the first time in GAME I personally thought that it was too expensive for it's type of genre, then I realized 4 hours later just how wrong I was, it should teach me not to judge a book by its front cover.

  • Excerpt: I got a comment to the effect that I wrote an Faq and not a review, after reading my review over I decided that was right, so I decided to make changes. They are subtle changes, but may have an impact. Characters: Jak: The hero of this game, Jak was exposed to Dark Eco experiments for 2 years, and has changed. He has some really cool moves! Daxter: Jak’s best friend, used to be human until he fell into a pool of dark eco and became an ottsel. He wishes for pants.

Actoin/Adventure games at it's best.

  • Excerpt: You play Jak, who fresh from his adventure from his first game of saving the sages and effectively the world from evil enemy Gol and Maia is ready for a new adventure. He gets sucked into the future (500 years) through a precursor artefact though and is instantly locked away for reasons unknown.

  • Excerpt: Back in the very early days of the PS2 platform games were in short supply. This was a concern, I mean the platform game is an age old genre that has been on the frontline for every console generation. Ever since the early days of Pitfall Harry stars such as Sonic, Mario and Crash have been the mascots for their respective companies. Then gaming had to go and get all grown up and any game that favored reflexes over puzzles seemed to become frowned upon.
  • Cons: "Jak's aim, characters, story..."

Undoubtedly one of the best platformers on a console made. Very funny, quite challenging and lenghty with a good story to boot, it continues the story of Jak and daxter leading him around and outside a harsh city filled with beasts and hardship. flying bi, Sofa Cinema
