Harvest Moon: Save the Homeland
3 May 2009
Excerpt: The cult classic series hits the Playstation 2, but with a twist. Whereas previous games focused on farming, Save the Homeland focuses more on your relationships with other villagers. In the end, the results are mixed. Players take control of a young boy who takes charge of his deceased grandfather’s farm. The hero then learns that the village is in danger of being destroyed to make way for a theme park. It’s then up to the player to find a way to save the town.
Excerpt: It is unfortunate that the simulation genre as it is known in Japan is not more popular in America. For years the Japanese game industry has enjoyed the success of many titles that define the term "simulation" with eccentric literalness. Far removed from the God-like perspective of SimCity and its ilk, games like Tokemeki Memorial and Dance Dance Revolution are wildly popular for providing players with the chance to live a virtual experience rather than simply control...
Excerpt: I was sent Harvest Moon: Save the Homeland by Natsume because I was the only one with a spare PS2 at the moment. I wasn't particularly anticipating the game; I'd never played a Harvest Moon title in my life, and with Dragon Warrior VII and Golden Sun on my plate, I didn't see how a farming sim could pique my interested. Well, I received it, played it, and can now say: consider me piqued.
Excerpt: Harvest Moon games have always been cult classics. The premise is somewhat simplistic and goofy, but many gamers, both casual and hardcore, have fallen in love with the series' quirky charms. Natsume wasted little time in taking its key franchise next gen, but is it worth your money?
Excerpt: Of course the way I review you’d think the only thing Natsume did was Harvest Moon… not so. Though I had to check Natsume’s website for information on this game to come to this conclusion, Natsume does do other games… most of which I never heard of except for two other genres they seem to love. 1) Harvest Moon (duh), 2) Medabots (the little spoken of Anime/Manga that fizzled out and hasn’t been spoken of in sometime) and 3) Bass Fishing… yeah, Bass Fishing.
Harvest Moon: a Wonderful Life special edition (PS2)
16 March 2006
