Grand Theft Auto: Vice City PS2 Review

Console Obsession
31 May 2010
  • Excerpt: Life used to be different for us: we did nothing all day except drink incredibly cheap -thus incredibly bad- liquor and watch soap operas; plus there were no girls to comfort us. Then, between Emmerdale and Coronation Street, Grand Theft Auto was released: a game with the same name as a lousy Ron Howard film, but totally different. Oh, and without Ron Howard thank God.

Grand Theft Auto: Vice City

Into Liquid Sky
15 May 2004
  • Excerpt: On the heels of the immensely popular and surprisingly successful Grand Theft Auto 3 , Rockstar has created a successful sequel that not just adds on the original, but gives the player more of everything. Set in the 1980's, this game has the decade's nostalgia poured into every seam. You play as Tommy Vercetti, who has recently gotten out of jail.
  • Pros: Huge living city, Best soundtrack ever, Lots of missions or exploration to do, Vastly improved auto-aim
  • Cons: Some flaws in the graphics engine, Interior locations not as good as exterior

Grand Theft Auto: Vice City

The Gamers Temple
7 May 2004
  • Excerpt: Grand Theft Auto Vice City is a standalone game that takes the gameplay of Grand Theft Auto 3 (GTA3) down south to Miami, er, Vice City and back in time to the 1980s.  You get more than just a change in scenery, though.  Vice City adds new gameplay elements to an already excellent game.  The move in time and place also gives Vice City a much richer environment than its predecessor, imbuing the game with even more character.

22 April 2004
  • Excerpt: Fast forward to a year later and the release of Grand Theft Auto: Vice City. Rockstar decided to show everyone that that “ripples of controversy” they created was only the result of getting their feet wet and, this time, they are going to cannonball into the deep end. Instead of Reservoir Dogs and N.Y.P.D. Blue, Rockstar North has created the videogame twin of Pulp Fiction and The Sopranos. GTA3 is tame in comparison to what you will find in Vice City.

A Great Vice for the PC

GIN
21 July 2003
  • Excerpt: Grand Theft Auto: Vice City is my first venture into the Grand Theft Auto world, but it will not be my last. I started playing GTA: Vice City on the Sony PlayStation 2 (PS2) at a friend's house and on my very first session I was hooked. Several of my larger friends had to come and physically remove me from my seat so that they could play.

Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Review

AtomicGamer
19 May 2003
  • Excerpt: As they did last year with Grand Theft Auto 3, Rockstar Games has ported the massive Playstation 2 hit Grand Theft Auto: Vice City to the PC. And as before, the PC version sports better graphics, new mouse controls, MP3 playback, custom skins, and the ability to do quick replays. This time around, though, Rockstar has put more effort into tuning performance than they did with GTA3.
