Summary: This version of the game is the arcade version which is a lot harder than the original SNES Gradius III, which I never played, but once you get used to it, it is still a fun classic to play and can still hold it own with newer, better graphic games.
Summary: Although i am a great fan of Gradius, Konami, really rush the combo. It did'nt make a great couple. However, only buy this game if you want Gradius IV. Gradius III was screwed a bit. If your asking for graphics, i STRONGLY recommend you stay away from this game. That's right, DON'N EVEN BOTHER!!! Graphics are in no importance here. Although, Gradius IV has some cool & neat special effects. Challenging game play has to categories, Hard & IMPOSSABLE.
Summary: If you are as old as me, ahem... a young 33, and can remember spending tons of quarters on various shoot em up games in the arcades...then you'll enjoy this shooter. If you are into 3D polygon graphics with texture mapping etc., you might not. I am lucky enough to own all the various game systems that have been released (except for X- bob and Gamecube cuz I a grad student now at UC Irvine and don't have money ) and always add shooter games to my collection.
Summary: From all the reviews, one should see that Gradius III/IV is not for everyone. If one is the type of player who grew up with 3-D games, one would trash it for being released on the Playstation platform. The problem with this argument is that if it's not appropriate for Playstation, then what platform should it be released in? Dreamcast? PC? Nintendo 64?
Summary: Okay, before you get your hopes up too much, this is *not* a new Gradius game. It's an arcade perfect translation of Gradius III and IV from the arcades. It's just a regular 2d side scrolling game. That doesn't mean it isn't a great game! Gradius is one of the best side-scrolling games ever made. Just because you got a brand spanking new 128 bit system doesn't mean you're too good for the classics, does it? :) I think it's great to actually see a 2d game now and then.
Summary: Ahh... I remember those days with the Nes/Snes/Genesis and mindless side scroll-shooter games. Extremely fun for a while then the "mindless" part kicks in. If you enjoy games like einhander by square or the r-type series, get this game. If you dont, atleast rent it. oh and a response to another reviewer whom shal remain nameless: just because a game isnt 3d doesnt make it a waste you ignorant ignorant fool.
Excerpt: "I remember playing this game years ago in an arcade, so was all nostalgic at the chance to play again. It's a pretty basic flyer- plane going forward through rolling screens, attacked by various things to shoot at, and weapons to collect. Several attempts on, and I am still stuck at level 4, at the easiest setting, and all help available. Mind you- a memory card would also help, as I am still starting over EVERY time!! Perhaps I have just lost ...

Mas de 15 años han pasado desde que empezase la lucha en el espacio estelar y millones de jugones de todo el mundo han ejercido de pilotos de estas naves.
