  • Excerpt: No, it’s okay, you’re not seeing things. I too thought it wasRussell Crowe of Gladiator fame adorning the cover of Lucasarts’ latest strategic role-playing adventure, Gladius. However, whilst Lucasarts’ effort exists within the Roman era, I assure you, the similarities end there… with the exception of the gladiator-like battles of course.

  • Excerpt: It's clear from the picture on the box that Gladius isn't a tribute to ancient air fresheners. More like Maximus Destructus or whatever he was called… Gladius features a lot of sword-swinging from main characters Ursula and Valens. Ursula, from the land of Nordagh, is the daughter of a barbarian king. Valens is the son of one of Imperia's finest gladiators of all time.

  • Excerpt: LucasArts have once again made one of those games that can keep you on your couch playing for a long time, if you're a turn-based RPG fan of course. Gladius is as a good as it looks! The game takes place in a world of ancient Roman themed gladiator stadiums. This world is at war and everything is settled in ancient gladiator style. The game starts with the selection between two characters.

Gladius – Review

  • Excerpt: After the surprising success of Ridley Scott's Gladiator , games set in the coliseum seem to be all the rage. A look back in the past year or so will reveal not only the lame chariot racer Circus Maximus , but also the forthcoming title Gladiator . And while two games with an ancient Roman theme might not seem like a flood, compare it to how many ancient Roman empire games there were last generation--yeah, not too many, eh?

  • Excerpt: Gladius boasts a nice 3D atmosphere while keeping things solidly rooted in a mostly 2D world. The view of the world you get when traveling from location to location is nicely detailed with plenty of landmarks and distinctive regional looks. There are 4 different regions in all, each with a unique look to it. The arenas, on the other hand, are usually plain looking, with a sandy or rocky ground and a couple of boxes scattered around.
