Excerpt: With more than a passing nod to the more up-to-date versions of Gauntlet than should really be allowed, Acclaim’s Gladiator: Sword of Vengeance is a deceiving little title. At first glance, this hack and slash affair looks like a well rounded, quality product that should you allow it to, will draw you in and just force you to play. After a short spell though, it isn’t difficult to see that none of these statements are true.
Excerpt: Gladiators are, by all intents and purposes, a vastly underused video gaming commodity. I’m not talking about that bizarre TV show where meatheads smack each other around with massive cotton buds either, by the way, and neither am I referring to the recent famous movie which won far too many awards. I’m talking about the real thing, the real gladiatorial games of ancient Rome.
