Summary: I haven't played the other Gallop Racers, but I do know I fell in love with this one. There are PLENTY of things to do and my favorite is that it's not JUST focused on the horses, it's also focused on you, the rider. You can breed, buy/sell, train, race etc etc. It also allows you to chose your silk colors/patterns and gives you a little cash after the Tests for your first horse(s). You start off with your own stable and you basically grow from there.
Summary: I have had the pleasure of playing all three Gallop Racer games, and this one is by far the best. You actually get to see your foals grow from 0 to 2, not just have them instantly be 2yro. And for those who complain about the lack of training, look no further! Once a month for 6 months, you get the chance to turn your green colt/filly into a knowledgeable racing champion... or the sport's biggest dud.
Summary: it's the best non-japanese horse racing game available in the u.s.a. g1 jockey3 is a slightly better game while racing (also with slightly better graphics), but gallop racer 2003 allows you to breed which is a must for any great horse racing game.
Summary: This game is awsome, not kidding! There are not many girl playstation games out there, and if you like horses this is one of them! I got this game a year ago, and I now have two playing accounts. On both I am B rated (the rates go from worst to best in this order E,D,C,B,A,S,SS. It is chalenging at first, as my cousin and brother are still E rated, but fun to raise and train your own horses. One of my foals came in seventh for horse of the year!
Summary: I thought this was a really great game! At first, it's a little hard to win the races and to pass jockey school, but overall the game is GREAT! You can own/train/race and breed your own horses. I also like the game because you can pick your silks and jockey. When your foal is 2, you can train it and pick out its gear too. Later on in the game, you could also be asked to come to the world jockey series. I WON THE SERIES!!! On free mode, you can ride on any track.
Summary: I love horses, but am not a horseracing person. So it took a little time to get familiar with terms (ie: furlong, betting systems, G1, G2, claiming, "Beyer" speed indexes). You start out (in Season Mode) with no money & race cheap horses (basically low level claimers) - don't expect to win with them, but they help you win more money & experience to then purchase better horses.
Summary: i haven't played the other gallop racer games, so i cannot comment on some things that others have issues with (like the point-of-view,etc.). i think the camera angles are fine, i would rather not have an overhead view because i think having a true "view from the saddle" is more realistic. this game is difficult (and a little frustrating) at the beginning, but once your jockeying gets better through many races you will absolutely love this game.
Summary: Experience the rush as Gallop Racer 2003: A New Breed, the sequel to the ever-popular Gallop Racer and Gallop Racer 2001, races into stores this spring. If you crave the need for speed, Gallop Racer 2003 is the game for you! This new action-packed sports title immerses the player into the exciting and fast paced world of horse racing! Whether you want to be a betting spectator or a horse-breeding champion, Gallop Racer 2003 promises to be pure thoroughbred racing fun!
Summary: This game is really fun, but you have to spend some time playing it before you figure everything out. The only complaint I have is the training mode. It's really difficult to do. I would definetly suggest puchasing this game if you like horse racing.
