The Next Level
12 February 2002
  • Excerpt: All right, all right. There is also the teeny, tiny matter of rhythm - or a lack thereof. Sometimes . . . sometimes, I trip up. I have been known to drift in and out of the beat, moving masterfully one second and falling miserably the next. (When I say I trip across the dance floor, I ain't kidding.) Add a high-pressure factor like an audience, and you have one instant wallflower.

Game Over Online
31 January 2002
  • Excerpt: Music games have become increasingly popular since the release of Konami’s Dance Dance Revolution, Beatmania, and many others. They’ve started to appear more on consoles, as the console systems have become more powerful and better able to meet the extreme needs of beat-based games. With that comes Frequency, the newest release from Sony and Harmonix Studios.

17 December 2001
  • Excerpt: The whole music game genre is one that tends to draw quizzical stares and snickers on this side of the Pacific, even while our friends in Japan seem to go ape-poop for any sort of game that involves keeping the beat (even if it’s with a pair of maracas, a la the Dreamcast’s Samba de Amigo.

PSX Extreme
9 December 2001
  • Excerpt: How many times have you come across a game that was as inimitable as Parappa the Rapper or Dance Dance Revolution? Without a doubt, both titles have graced our venerable Playstation console with much force and dominance. DDR and its dance pad, and Parappa with its wacky cartoon world and lyrics, have shown gamers a sense of originality that is rarely seen of this genre.

  • Excerpt: I've already said this before when I reviewed Frequency for IGN: This game is pure digital crack. I haven't been so quickly addicted to a game since Tetris. Sure, a lot of factors came together to help win me over so completely, primarily my love for music of this type, but Frequency has still managed to hook friends that aren't even into anything remotely related to electronica.

Playstation Illustrated
2 November 1998
  • Excerpt: The graphics in Frequency can best be summed up as 'eye-candy'. Special effects are heavily used, and the 'arenas' are unique and quite cool-looking. There's also cool little features such as your own 'Freq', or customizable 'character' symbol. Design you own persona or choose from several funny ones that come with the game and then the image is incorporated throughout the arenas... The sound, however, is the main focus of the game.

Review: "Frequency" (PS2)

gamingxp.com
26 July 2002
  • Pros: Tolle Musik, Kurzweilige Unterhaltung, Hohe Motivation
  • Cons: Nur zweckmäßige Grafik

Test : Polarium

GameHope
20 October 1998
