Excerpt: "...to immerse myself in a Formula One game. I've played a number of F1 games over the years but yet to find a title which offers both a solid racing experience and a real challenge. Formula One 2001 saw a simultaneous release for both the PS and PS2 platforms on May the 25th, months earlier than the usual Autumn dates for previous titles in this series. I imagine that this was part of Sony's strategy, to lead F1 racing into the next generation of gaming, ...
Pros: Decent 2 - player mode, differences between cars, realistic handling?
Cons: Unrealistic damage, missing or ineffective game elements, computer A . I .
Summary: Well, I'm sorry, but I didn't think F1 2001 was particularly great. There, I've said it, and I feel liberated! I'm a big fan of driving games, and have been since Pole Position and Outrun, so when F1 2001 came out, I felt I had to rush out and buy, particularly with the added lure of a Season 2000 DVD. And first impressions were good.
Formula One 2001 (PS2): A Diary of F1 2001: The Bugged Game
1 September 2001
Summary: I'd like to do this opinion slightly differently. Instead of describing the game in a standard way, I want to write my opinion as a diary, starting from Day 1 where I bought the game , and generally showing you how Formula One 2001 maybe isn't as good a game as it first seems. Day 1 - Wow! This game is cool! The graphics are excellent, the detail on the cars is stunning.
Pros: Great Car Handling., A real challenge on higher difficulties., Great graphics and sound.
Cons: Poor Artificial Intelligence., Some dodgy weather effects.
Excerpt: "...been a vast array of formula one games already on the PS2, this game being tipped to be the best of the crop (Didn’t have much to go up against anyway) Many who review game on this site just seem to state what the game is and it’s features. That’s not what I am giving you, this is my pure, raw experience of the games, it’s MY opinion. Yes the game is the best of the bunch and bought it the day of it’s launch, ...
Excerpt: "Official Formula One 2001 on the Playstation 2 is supposedly an authentic recreation of the 2001 Formula 1 series. In some respects in most certainly is, but in others it could not be further from real life. Every car and driver from the 2001 and series is available, and all the car liveries are authentic. The only drawbacks are the advertising boards and marks on the cars. The game falls in line with the Grand Prix' such as Britain and France ...
Pros: Great graphics, accurate tracks, all the real cars and drivers
Cons: Handling is not accurate, and some actions exagerated
