Excerpt: Please note that my review and rating does not take into account the multiplayer aspect of this game. Even though I don't follow this motorsport anymore, there are times when I like to immerse myself in a Formula One game. I've played a number of F1 games over the years but yet to find a title which offers both a solid racing experience and a real challenge.
Summary: I love F1, I watch it on Tv all the time whenever I can. F1 games have always been not good enough. The pc game Grand Prix 2 (by Microprose) is probably the best f1 game around. I thought that the ps2 would be better, but it just gets boring. For example, you crash the car at 200mph and all the car loses, is its front wing after it has just landed from a 100m drop, and then starts driving again.
Summary: I love formula one and when I saw this, I snatched it up and ran home. The game itself is quite incredible with the graphics oozing quality but then came the controls. Just awful. Like me, you will curse at the handling so much that you will end up buying the steering wheel/pedal kit. With that it made the game much more pleasurable. Still there is more that they could have done to the game, like more of interactive pit stop and more realistic weather.
Excerpt: Well, I'm sorry, but I didn't think F1 2001 was particularly great. There, I've said it, and I feel liberated! I'm a big fan of driving games, and have been since Pole Position and Outrun, so when F1 2001 came out, I felt I had to rush out and buy, particularly with the added lure of a Season 2000 DVD. And first impressions were good.
Excerpt: I'd like to do this opinion slightly differently. Instead of describing the game in a standard way, I want to write my opinion as a diary, starting from Day 1 where I bought the game, and generally showing you how Formula One 2001 maybe isn't as good a game as it first seems. Day 1 - Wow! This game is cool! The graphics are excellent, the detail on the cars is stunning.
Summary: It's surprisingly realistic. It's very fast. And it can be tricky at first. I happen to like the accuracy of the steering - it's very responsive to the slightest input, much more than most driving games. It takes a few laps to get used to, but it I'm fine with it. It may be less twitchy with a wheel peripheral if you find it too sensitive. Another issue seems to be the braking points.

Excerpt: Official Formula One 2001 on the Playstation 2 is supposedly an authentic recreation of the 2001 Formula 1 series. In some respects in most certainly is, but in others it could not be further from real life. Every car and driver from the 2001 and series is available, and all the car liveries are authentic. The only drawbacks are the advertising boards and marks on the cars.
Excerpt: This could have been the best F1 game ever, but it got scared of GT3 and went running... There has been a vast array of formula one games already on the PS2, this game being tipped to be the best of the crop (Didn’t have much to go up against anyway) Many who review game on this site just seem to state what the game is and it’s features. That’s not what I am giving you, this is my pure, raw experience of the games, it’s MY opinion.
Summary: Hey F1 fans, There are some issues I have with Formula One 2001 and I would like to point out some serious problems I had with the game, problems that most of the reviews I've seen so far haven't mentioned at all. It can't just be my copy of the game!! First of all is the AI, it's both good and laughably bad. Ok, it's nice to see how competive the other drivers are, but have you seen how they react to a stalled car on the track?
