Summary: I got it yesterday. Spent six hours with it. The game is much more realistic now than ever, particularly from the defensive side of things. You can actually produce clean sheets consistently with this, unlike FIFA 2003. Many of the features like the end-to-end camera with zoom and height controls have returned from FIFA 2002 which were missing in FIFA 2003. The play is realistic. The UI still stinks (hence the missing star.) It is confusing sometimes.
Summary: FIFA 2004 was better than FIFA 2003 with no doubt. However, there is no World Cup in the tournaments which is pretty weak! EA Sports should add Holland and Japan to the national league. Otherwise, good graphics, alright gameplay, awesome career mode!
Summary: Wow, I just bought this game and I have to say it's 10 times better then Fifa 03 and I would rank it right up there now with the Winning 11 series. First off the graphics are MUCH better and smoother. Close ups on the crowd stiull bother me but thats no big deal. The best feature is the new OffBall control where you can control players on the field in addition to the ball carrier. This makes this SO MUCH better and more realistic to play.
Summary: damn...this game is really really bad...the gameplay is SLOW..you cannot change the speed of the game...and the graphics were better on fifa 2003...they delete the "tower" camera..and the players are VERY FOOOLS!!!!when they run with the ball...really dont waste 50.00 on buying this game...after a few days you will get bored with it..IT IS MUCH MUCH BETTER FIFA 2003..im angry with EASPORTS because they suk it up with this game.
Summary: In another attempt for EA to make a hit with the soccer fans, FIFA 2004 hits the target, but misses the bulls eye. First things first, the gameplay is slow. At first this bothered me and I hated the game. After playing for awhile I realized that the gameplay has to be slow in order to take full advantage of "Of the Ball Control." Which is a great improvement to the game. The atmosphere and graphics are amazing in this game. Great job EA.
Summary: EA Sports' FIFA Soccer 2004 is an excellent game but could use a few "tweaks" for next year's version. First of all, I enjoy the new Off The Ball Control which allows you to command your teammates movements on the pitch. Secondly, I'm glad to see the Nationwide League represented in this game and also it is good to see some of Europe's second divisions.
Summary: I have loooonged for a decent soccer game on ANY platform. While in Japan, I had the chance to play Winning Eleven 6, and I thought I had found the motherload... until FIFA 2004. Before playing it, I had read several bad reviews, so right off the bat I went in with a low expectation. You have so much more control over who you can pass to. The Off The Ball control, though a little complicated, is a true asset.
Summary: Warning to all people who are thinking about buying this game: rent it first. It will save you from further pain... I bought this game mostly because of online play capabilities and what do you know... it is almost impossible to play it online... At least I wasn't successful even once to connect to other players... After doing further investigations I've found many similar posting on EA's own fifa message board (easportsnation.com).
Summary: Okay first of all I have no idea why everybody thinks this game is so bad.True, it has some flaws , but games are meant to be enjoyed over not stressed over. The graphics are mind blowing and the sound is good as well.Pro Evolution Soccer 3 is a huge rival os fifa but this time fifa has done everything to be better and has succeded. In fifa there is excellent replay value but in pro evo they show a replay for every single shot. The players really look alike to tv.The modes...
Summary: Much props to EA for such a fantastic OVERHAUL of the game- so a large overhaul that they mis judged the level of playability. Heres the breakdown: Pros: -Much improved graphics -Much improved control, approaching the Winning eleven level; I REALLY like Off the ball- give the guy who thought that up a nice bonus. -More game types: practice etc. -Improved dead ball situations- still room for improvement -Online of course, but its expected.
