  • Excerpt: Fantavision was one of the first titles available for the playstation 2 on release day. Now i bought this game not really knowing too much about it. Apart from its a great visual looking game playing about with fireworks. Now the concept of the game and the pre play reviews seem to like the idea, and so did i. On launch day i got home and got fantavision on the go straight away.

Fantavision for PlayStation 2

  • Excerpt: *Please note that my review and rating does not take into account the multiplayer aspect of this game.* Fantavision is a puzzle game involving catching fireworks of the same colour before setting them off (flashing). Flashing can trigger off induced explosions in other fireworks which, along with fireworks being set off in quick succession, contributes to a chain.

  • Pros: Fireworks display !  Chaining opportunities
  • Cons: Bland graphics, not an immediately obvious puzzler, short mode

Fantavision; the new Tetris

dbertman, Ciao

  • Excerpt: This game is a strange one, compared to most other PS2 games it has no story line and doesn't even feature that much variety. But these don't matter as soon as you have played it. The object of the game is to explode fireworks in sequence and the bigger/better the sequence, the more points you get. This may sound simple but Tetris (I believe the biggest selling game) was just drop, drop, drop etc.
  • Pros: Easy to pick up (sort of)
  • Cons: Not much variety in the levels

  • Excerpt: I thought it was about time I wrote a comment on something I don’t like. AND THIS I DON’T LIKE. This game looked dead interesting. A supposedly great new concept in gaming that scores highly in all magazine reviews. Saw it cheep. Bought it. Played it. Binned it. It’s actually a complicated, upside down version of Tetris, where you have to shoot the rising ‘fireworks’ in the correct sequence instead of landing blocks right.

Fantavision

  • Excerpt: While Fantavision may look like one of those games that you simply watch, (yes, there is such a thing as "games" that you watch) it does have some surprisingly additive gameplay. Basically, your goal is to link firework shells as they are launched into the sky. Once you have as many of them connected as you can, detonate them and you are rewarded with some stunning visual effects.
  • Pros: many
  • Cons: few

  • Excerpt: Like it says in the title this is a cross between missle Command and the classic Tetris game. The basics of Fantavision is to explode three fireworks of the same colour to score points, of course the more you explode the more points you get just like in Tetris but if you miss any firework then your 'life bar' decreases and once thats run out its game over. That basic is what Fantanvision is about, I game that is quick to pick up.

  • Excerpt: Coming up with original gaming ideas is no mean feat these days. Virtually every aspect of reality and imaginable fiction has been turned into playable pixels, from driving tanks through war torn countries, to managing the traffic system of sprawling cities. Can there possibly be anything new left? Well, yes, but you're not going to believe it. Give 100 monkeys 100 typewriters and 50 years and it's still highly unlikely that they'd come up with this idea.

Your in a Fanta-cy if you like this

  • Excerpt: With all the hype surrounding the launch titles for the PS2, it was though by some that they may no be as good as the hype. With 26 titles, not any of the games are 'A' grade games. Sony added to try and make a launch title, which you would have thought would show off the real power of the console. No, ala Fantavistion, a big colourful mess.
  • Pros: Alright, colourful graphics
  • Cons: Very simple easy game
