GamesFirst!
5 September 2005
  • Excerpt: Sony's Eye Toy is one of the coolest innovations we've seen in gaming controllers. Of course, the original EyeToy Play disc was a bit shallow and remains more of a tech demo. However, EyeToy Play 2 is a really wonderful improvement, offering much deeper gameplay and more enjoyable multiplayer.
  • Pros: ups: much bigger minigames, creative approaches to just about everything, actually functions as a party game
  • Cons: downs: still suffers from intermittent camera tracking issues, how many EyeToy cameras will I have to buy?

  • Excerpt: In most situations, jumping up and down while waving your arms frantically might make observers question your sanity (or at least stare at you quizzically). However, if you happen to be playing one of the games in Sony’s EyeToy franchise, you may just find these onlookers joining you.

EyeToy: Play 2 Review

GameSpot
11 August 2005
  • Summary: If you are interested in an Eye Toy but don't yet have one, you should skip buying Play and proceed directly to Play 2, as it's almost universally better than the first game.
  • Pros: Well-done sequel, Improved multiplayer, Minigames are longer and more in depth
  • Cons: Loading times are excessive, Doesn't make any big changes to the property

These mini-games cover a variety of genres from sports to martial arts and music. Each of the games is slightly more challenging than those found in the first EyeToy: Play title, making this one live up to the device’s potential. There are also a number of mini-games and extra modes that add even more to the total package.
