  • Summary: ESPN NHL 2K5 is a decent Ice Hockey game but it really won't appeal to much of Europe and for those people who buy it but aren't particularly interested in the sport it won't last very long in their consoles. It is however a decent game for those who enjoy the sport and it is sure to do well in the countries that partake in the sport regularly such as the Scandinavian and Eastern European countries.

  • Conclusion: ESPN NHL 2K5 is one of the better ice hockey titles that we've seen during the past few years, which when coupled with the broad range of modes really does make it more enjoyable than expected - and with a £20 retail price it's an absolute bargain addition to your collection.

  • Excerpt: This is the second term for ESPN’s National Hockey license, and according to my American friends last years effort was a “doo-sie”. I’m guessing that means fairly decent. What with Gary Thorne and Bill Clemet commentating, two of the greatest ‘sounds’ in the game, and the full ESPN experience plus trimmings in the shape and form of the scoreboard, 2004 was a decent game indeed.

  • Excerpt: As the year rolls on, the likelihood of a real-life hockey season seems to dwindle bit by bit thanks to the impending player lockout. Indeed, hockey fans haven't had a whole lot to smile about lately, and, in fact, they've become even more uneasy when it was recently made known that all of the major hockey titles being released this year were bumped up on the release calendar in anticipation of said lockout.

  • Excerpt: Ice Hockey is a game that I imagine very few British people get to play. It's a shame, as out of all the American sports that haven't really become massive over here, Ice Hockey looks to be the most entertaining. It's fast, action packed and brutal. Probably not much like how you remember hockey at school. Playing on a ploughed field that prevents the ball from moving more than a few metres isn't my idea of fun.

  • Excerpt: Since you can only play virtual hockey this season rather than watch the real deal on TV, you'll want to make the most out of your NHL game purchase, this year in particular. Simply put, the one to buy is ESPN NHL 2K5.

  • Conclusion: You can customize the songs that will appear in NHL 2K5. You can put different songs in every arena and every mode. Problem is, you can't switch them on the go. Let's say you put a few songs to play during the main menu, the first one will always be the one who will play. If you want to hear the other songs, you have to wait until the first one finishes. There's no button to change the songs.

  • Summary: The ESPN range is quickly becoming the must have games for all American Sports fans, they cater for the NHL, and fans amongst us. American sports can be extremely complicated and it seems that the Americans have to have more rules than anyone else. NHL is the fastest and most furious game known to man, it is the best spectator sport in the world but very few of us will ever be able to skate well enough let alown play the game, this is as close as you will get!
