Summary: I played this game for Xbox about a year after if came out, and I absolutely loved it. I recently got back into watching football, and I was reminiscing about 2K5. Unfortunately I lost my copy of it, so I ordered one for the PS2. I honestly thought that I wouldn't have as much fun playing this the second time around, nearly 8 years later. I was so very wrong. This game is as amazing as I remember it. Look, I've tried to love the Madden games, I really have.
we need to sue ea for dishonesty, false advertisement, and theft

Summary: It sucks that I cant even play a decent football game in this day and age. Only good gm out is ncaa; Madden developers please stop playing games and messing with customers. You wonder why apple, mccdonalds, honda are some of the best companies ever they put alot of time in their work and strive to put out nothing but the absolute best product to it's customers and even if they feel like they run out of idea's customers will still by the newer product even if it has...
Summary: Hands down best football video game series there was! This game still plays as smooth and enjoyably on a PS2 in the face of nextgen systems (spite of being a 128 bit age console). Update the rosters each year and never give into the monopoly ever again!
Summary: It is quite a shame that EA bought the rights to the NFL, because 2K made a much better football game than Madden. 2K mainly focused on the tackling, catching, blocking, running, etc...rather than graphics. That's what I loved about it. EA is all about graphics but doesn't really show an interest in making the game more enjoyable to play. It's a shame. Maybe one day 2K will be able to make it again.
Summary: This is a 5 year late review. I played all the Maddens from 2001 to 2006. I heard some people talking about how good 2k5 is so I bought 2k5 after I bought Madden '06. I put it in my PS2 and said huh? This game was only $20 bucks? I forgot all about Madden '06. The player movement, the animation, tackling, running, passing, blocking, and the commentating were much better than madden in my book. The scoring is much more realistic as well.
Believe the hype -- better than Madden, 3 years later

Summary: This is the best football game out there today, and it isn't even "next-gen." Graphically it might be the best thing on PS2, second to God of War 2. The commentary, once you get accustomed to the change, is INFINITELY better than Madden (ol' Papa Madden has been making me want to shoot myself in the face since 1999), the ESPN interaction is great, and it is overall a very, very strong football game. Guys, this game is available for about a buck used, plus shipping.
Best ridicufied, absolute best football game ever, ever, made on PS2

Summary: Talk about replay value? Can you believe 3 years later Im still able to play this game? I had it since its release date and it doesnt crash or anything. It looks close to the Madden on 360, UNBELIEVABLE EA, you just shot yourself in the foot every year after Mike Vick was on the cover. Mike Vick recovered after 5 months. EA is still finding itself. Great, Colorful Commentary and Chris Berman doing Pre-game, Halftime, and postgame shows is the Sh!+.
Summary: ESPN NFL 2K5 is an amazing game at a low price. It is a better game than madden 2006! And it is cheaper! What more do you want? 2K5 has amazing graphics and phisics that are more realistic than Madden 2005 and 2006. In madden 2006 and 2005 you can throw an 80 yard touchdown throw with any team at any time. In 2K5 it is more realistic, wear most of the huge hailmary passes are deflected or intercepted.
Summary: Im not going to lie Madden 2005 is a very good game, but espn 2k5 is easily better. Coming from somebody who has both games, let me tell you its better when it comes to gameplay, graphics, concept, sound, you name it. The players in Madden really look deformed, they all have tiny waste, huge shoulders and all look 5'9. And the gameplay is so unrealistic, its crazy. Football games arent supposed to be realistic, but its supposed to at least be close.
Summary: when i first read about this game i thought, well im not gonna be getting that for awhile, isnt worth 50 bucks, but then i saw it was only 20 bucks. i bought it as soon as i could. (last summer, june or july) being a die-hard football fan, ive now spent nearly 200 hours playing it, (193 hours, 47 mins to be exact) ive done 3 franchises and won a countless number of superbowls. the graphics are great and the sound is as good as ive heard it.
