Great package, great value, deeply flawed gameplay

Summary: I'm not giving this a lower rating because I'm a Madden fanboy, like some people. I don't even like Madden. Looking back, I hate what EA did to football games. For years they coasted on their overrated series, knowing they didn't have to try hard with it because no other company was able to make a decent NFL video game. But when they parted ways with Sega, all of that changed.
Signicant Problems prevent it from dethroning Madden

Summary: ESPN NFL2K5 is a good football game, that has some REMARKABLE oversights after playing for a long time. Most of the reviews here are from people giddy over the first few hours of play, when the game's graphics and general gameplay will astound you. Only later, do the flaws show, and they're big enough for you to know about, and prevent the game from being as good as Madden 2004, or most likely 2005.
Summary: At $19.99, ESPN 2k5 is probably the best football per dollar you'll find this year for Playstation 2. The gameplay is great, I personally think the addition of the charge-up meter for moves is great. Unlike what some reviewers might lead you to believe, you don't HAVE to charge-up to do a spin-move, juke, stiff arm, etc., it just raises the chance of the move being more successful. The game also comes with a nice football dictionary and guide in-game.
