Summary: This game is quite enjoyable and offers lots of various gameplay scenarios; such as European rugby, Six Nations, World League, Super 12 and even the Lions Tour. The actual gameplay is fairly easy to get used to and for those not so aware of rugby rules, there are a few helpful areas and ways in which you soon learn the basics. However there are some areas of the game that become annoying.
Summary: At first I was quite impressed with this game but having spent many hours playing I have reached the following conclusions. Rugby 2005 looks and feels better than 2004 - the graphics are better and it is generally less clunky and runs more smoothly. I think EA have added some nice little touches that add realism to the game such as the occassional punch up, hearing the strains of the National Anthem prior to an international match, the performance of the Haka, and the...
Summary: This game is definitely much better that 2004, simply because of the AI of teams in defence is much better. In 2004 your Full back was useless in making a tackle to save a try. In 2005 the full back is much better. There is no "Congo line" running either which featured in 2004 when a player made a break and you tried to chase, but every time you switched to the lead chaser, the chaser player slowed down. Because the defence is better, the game is better.
Summary: 2 main points of mention. I played the 1999 version but didn't bother with 2004 due to finding the rucking far too poor in the former version, and after all, rucking is one of the most important elements of rugby. Thankfully this aspect is now much improved and doesn't resort to perfectly formed scrums everytime. However, the one element of this game that detracts from realsim is the frantic pace. It just comes across as too arcady.
how the hell do you know what it is gonna be like yet?

Summary: how does this work: a very promissing series comes along and it's next game is coming out soon. however. this could be amazing, or it could be awful. we don't know! p.s. the only reason i put 3 stars is because it is in the middle.
