EA Sports got it right - This game is great

John Prothero, Amazon
25 July 2011
  • Summary: I don't consider myself much of a sports fan in any stretch of the imagination what so ever, yet when I started watching Rugby on Universal Sports I seemed to be strangely drawn to it. Normally, I go for role playing, simulator and action adventure games like Subterrania and Ecco The Dolphin etc. Just for the heck of it I went on Amazon to see if a video game existed that captured the pace and realism of Rugby and I found this one at a very good price.

Could be Better

L. Fisher, Amazon
19 May 2006
  • Summary: This is the first Rugby game I've ever played. It's a pretty decent game but I recommend that you go through the tutorial section of this game which will show you how to play the game, it's rules, and all of it's controls which sometimes can be confusing unless you practice alot. The gameplay is decent and the graphics are okay (could be alot better).

Rugby 2005-Best Rugby Game To Date

Showstopper "Showstopper Loves Bella", Amazon
9 July 2005
  • Summary: I bought Rugby 2005 today and i've played it non stop as it is awesome. It has lots of game modes such as practice,Super 12,Tri Nations,Six Nations, Ten Nations which is the Six & Tri Nations joined together and Argentina. The create a player mode is very good and you can put lots of detail in making your player or making any player you see fit to make from the past.

Must Have/Must Give

Jiggy "Aaron", Amazon
26 April 2005
  • Summary: THIS IS THE REAL DEAL!!! If you have a friend, loved one, associate or even know a random associate who is at all interested in Rugby, you owe it them and humanity to encourage them to get this game. Heck, buy it for them. For those who have played every other sport title and are looking for a unique sports sim to conquer, prepare for hours of enjoyment and challenge when you pick up Rugby 2005.

The first rugby game ever!

The Rugby fan, Amazon
31 March 2005
  • Summary: As someone who has owned every so-called rugby game ever released, I have to say that EA has surpassed their own brilliance and given us the first rugby sim which captures the intensity and continuity of the sport. I had begun to doubt that it was possible to bring this complex sport to a gaming format but I was in owe when I saw the playability and realism that this game has to offer.

Rucking great!!!!!!!

Alastair Sinclair, Amazon
20 March 2005
  • Summary: As a passionate rugby supporter and player, this version was a huge improvemnt on the version released in 2004. It is extremely challenging. The graphics are also very good and it is obvious that time has been put into recreating world famous stadiums to the very last detail, as well as the teams around today. I definately recommend this game for any person, interested in this sport.

Pretty good.....

Hillyards "Arksteerer", amazon.co.uk
1 May 2006
  • Summary: Okay, so the camera angles are rubbish, u get cuaght a lot offside at the start and it can get a bit frustrating. But if u actually play the game thru a few tournaments on hard, it actually becomes really fun as u have to use proper tactics like kicking for position. I'd buy it, Rugby 06 isn't THAT much better.

Unconverted Try

Iain Ashby "gigahoe", amazon.co.uk
26 January 2006
  • Summary: Rugby 2004 was aweful but better than 2001, in the same way 2005 is better than 2004 but still not great. The big plus point is that this game can actually be fun to play (2004 was no fun at all) but there is no realism whatsoever. Forward play can work but just seems to be a slower way to score than giving it to the backs. No skill is required to defend as players preform superman style tackles aslong as they're within range.

Olly Norgate from Cherry Burton

Olly Norgate, amazon.co.uk
5 January 2006
  • Summary: This is probably the best rugby game ever made, the graphics are decent and it is not very difficult to use Although it hasn't realy improved much in terms of what to do and what the controls are from rugby 2004 i still rate this the best rugby game made so far.

Rugby 2005 is the best

John, amazon.co.uk
15 August 2005
  • Summary: My name is John Pa'a and Iam 13 and I go to Rutherford Intermediate school. I think Rugby 2005 is the best because you can Choose the International countries and create a player to represent your team. I really enjoyed reading your reviews and will quote your comments in my speech to persuade kids at my school to play Rugby 2005.
