Summary: I rented this game from Blockbuster last week and I agree with the general consensus that it is way too difficult to control. For the first 3 days i had it i struggled in just getting the car to go in a straight line. After playing with the menu controls and the setup options i finally got the car under rough control (set up all of your suspension options to hard). The graphics are incredible though and there is a pretty good sensation of speed.
Summary: The graphics are once again great with PS2 but it was difficult adjusting to the sensitive controls. The music soundtrack wasn't very exciting either. It sounded very 80's. The other thing I didn't like was the ability to select all the cars on the line-up initially. I guess they want you to get used to the controls first. In my opinion, wait for Grand Turismo.
Excerpt: 0verall very dissapointing when you consider games like gran turismo, this feels very old fashioned, its unsophisticated in comparison and doesnt really do much for me. The graphics and sound are pretty average and the playability is very average as well. With so many great games out there I would not rush out to buy this offering unless I had all the other driving games and was a real collector of driving games.

Excerpt: General/Summary: Square have never been renowned for racers, and this creation 'Driving Emotion Type S' is guaranteed to keep Square at the bottom of the pack, for now at least. It's obvious Square have no descent experience in this field of gaming, because mixing the best bits of 'Need For Speed', 'Gran Turismo', 'Sega GT' and 'TOCA' is clearly not the way to go, well not in this fashion.
Excerpt: Renowned for its stock of RPGs and unique fighting games, Square now tries its hand at racing with Driving Emotion Type-S. Rather than emulate the arcade stylings of Namco's Ridge Racer V, Type-S attempts to fashion a Gran Turismo-esque simulation experience. Regardless of the company's past success, one thing's certain - whenever Square tackles a new genre, people take notice.
Excerpt: This game isn't good at all, why? This game had so much true potential, it was coming from Square, the makers of the Final Fantasy series! What went wrong! The graphics are sub-standard and the cars are not very detailed at all, we were all looking forward to a Gran Turoismo beater here but htat just didn't happen. When you take the in-car view everything on the outside seems to become a big blur and you can't really make out anything on the road ahead.
Summary: hm also ich bin vom spiel nicht so beindruckt!Na ja ist ja auch geschmack sache!!! Die grafik vom spiel hat mir recht gut gefallen das man offiziele autos nehmen kann ist auch ganz gut nur an der steuerung ist irgendwie was misslungen was ich sehr schade finde!!
