Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 3 Review

  • Excerpt: There’s an extremely good chance you’ve at least heard of Dragon Ball Z. One of the most popular manga and anime series in the world, Akira Toriyama’s creation has stood the test of time, and has captivated viewers and readers with powering up for nearly two decades in Japan, and just over a decade in the US. Of course, that also means that it’s been done for quite a while as well.

  • Excerpt: In fact there are over 150 characters to choose from in the other modes contained in this game, including all the levels of the Goku/Vegeta family members, meaning you can play as little Goku, regular Goku and all his Super Saiyan forms and the fused Goku/Vegeta form with all their Super Saiyan forms. I know, it’s all confusing, but even the lowly characters with little to no powers are represented if you so choose to use them.
  • Pros: Actually feeling like you are the characters, Powers, including Ki channeled ones, are varied enough between the characters, The stronger characters seem pretty balanced against each other, Nice, simple fighting game that anyone can get into even if you skim the directions
  • Cons: There is a lot of story skipped over and the voiceovers don’t catch you up on what has happened, If you fight a stronger vs. weaker battle in Duel mode (like Goku vs. Hercules) the weaker opponent really has no chance, There are some chapters in Dragon History where the final challenge is to twirl the left stick around and around. I never won one of those, so I skipped that R3 push and took the opponent down in my own way., There is some noticeable text spelled in...

DragonBall Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 3

  • Conclusion: It’s clear a lot of love has gone into this title and I’m sure the hardcore fans will appreciate the amount of depth in which developers Spike have gone to regarding characters and storylines. For the rest of us however the game is the equivalent of being shouted at by a small child. Loud, annoying and not that easy to get along with.
  • Pros: A bundle of different game modes, Faithful to the series, Plenty to do
  • Cons: Hard to get into if you’re not a fan, Too many options?, Awful Japanese rock soundtrack, High difficulty curve to begin with

Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 3

PS3Hype
