Excerpt: ... then you are likely a dog. No shoes, no trouble at work – life can be wonderful if you move around on four instead of two legs. And Jake, our four-legged hero in this recent PS2 game, is a dog. He lives in some redneck town in the mid-west of the US of A, and his daily routine – besides sleeping and eating – is all about bones and impressing his dog girlfriend Daisy. Although every sane dog will admit that the bones are way more important.
Conclusion: THE VERDICT: Dog's Life could have offered a lot more had the time been taken to flesh the concept out. Instead, the game is little more than a veiled platformer. Then again, what title is better suited to a 'fetch quest' marathon than one based around dogs?
Conclusion: Other than the usual third person game camera problems (this often rears its ugly head on stairs and the like), and the varied music that'll sometimes remind you of the excellent Due South TV series and at other times have you searching for the sound options, overall Dog' Life was a pleasure to play, not too long, not too short and just about right as far as ease of play goes.
Pros: Being a dog is fun (for a while)., Some nice cartoony graphics., A fun, gentle adventure.
Cons: Occasional camera problems., Some terrible dialogue and music., Too easy and simplistic for the seasoned gamer.
Conclusion: Controls can at times be a bit too awkward, and the auto jumping can get very frustrating Camera can occassionally get stuck at bad angles, but this can be solved by going into first person mode Lastability may not be there for adult players due to the lower difficulty level The Verdict Dog's Life is a unique adventure gaming experience, that really brings something new and fresh to the table.
Conclusion: In spite of all these faults, the game is still relatively enjoyable, and worth a quick buzz – although with only three somewhat short and easy worlds, the lastability of this game seems a little too brief for me. That and the difficulty level is non-existent – I doubt anyone that’s played games extensively before will find ANY of the challenges even remotely challenging. Worth a look see though, and at the bargain price of £29.99 might be someone’s cup of tea.
Summary: An Originalität mangelt es Dog’s Life sicherlich nicht.
